Thistle universal onecoat

It's been around for a while but I never used it , had a search and can't find much information from spreads using it , I got a few jobs coming up with hardwall and skim and thinking if it's an option maybe I'll give it a go.
Anyone had experience using it comments would be appreciated. On demo video it's applied from machine which so seem logical to do.

Not great stuff I didn't like it and it's OK in a video doing one wall at a time but what about if you wanna put more than 6 bags on you need spatulas and all sorts for it and I found it's quicker to do float and set than 1 coat

I thinking got machine and goes on in one go waste of time me floating and then skimming it ,if anyone can vouch for it coming up a nice finish at later stage of using it, I'd give it a bash

20m2 ish to do on Friday would be approx 6 or 7 bags I think, also don't know if merchant can get in bags tbh though

i used it a bit a few years back when block and quayle used to stock it for about a eight quid a bag. it was alright. sponge finish. but nowhere does it anymore so i havent used it since. get some knauf from wickes

You sponge it up as well and if you don't catch it right it's going to be an expensive mistake think it doesn't cover that much mtr as well and something ridiculous like 2.7m at 11mm it think the way I did it was lay on rule off fill hollows which was a Arse ache then let to pull in a bit give it a splash water or dip sponge in water bucket and sponge up then trowel over it then ,,,;;;;argh I give up hardwall and multi all day long

Fair enough, chucked a bag of hard wall through machine today for a test and then thought of the one coat got a bag in garage I nicked off job ages ago and it long time out of date.never ended up using it as thought it looked a struggle hand applying like you say

You might love it but my personal preference was it seemed a lot of effort when I could float and set probably in that time or I might be a bit behind but it's all sponges spats trowel lot of water on it as well maybe give it a bash

i meant the wickes one coat. which is manufactured by knauf. or used to be. dont use it that much for the reasons outlined above. use to use the bg universal for patching chases etc.

When I used it it was known as wickes own brand one coat that was a few years back mind buddy

We used tones of it on a barn we done all in-between beams, I didn't like the stuff much takes ages to dry as well but it was on eml

Time set was another question I was going to ask there ain't any on my old bag,maybe thickness and surface going on would determine it though,thanks for reply

Wash your mouth out with soap and water, do you not know he can only use bg products

thistle universal, a one coat plaster, i have only hand applied. lay on as you would float, rule off, not rule in, leave to tighten up, sponge float and lay in with the fat. two hits a day on thermalite blocks, you may only have one hit a day on plasterboard at 10mm thickness.

we have recently plastered a mill out with universal, plasterboard, 10mm thickness. when the plaster had dried cover the walls with lux soap flakes applied with a sponge, these walls were not decorated just left white, when they got dirty in time you can wash the soap flakes off, as they are just used as a temp sealer. then reapply the soap flakes.

Used mp75 sprayed a few years ago and to be honest I quite liked it
Get some through your machine
Rule of, spat it, sponge it and trowel it up with fat and jobs a good en
Easy enough to get a finish with
If you miss a bit it's still green enough morning after to bring the fat out and finish any bits

Nice one .. It's kind of funny never had an interest in either bg one or Knauf mp75 but on these extension's jobs thinking through machine might be better of than boarding out and skim on some,thanks for heads up

On a serious note though I liked it and as long as you can rule of and use a spat you can do it easily
You don't have to chase your arse with it either and you'll get 2 decent size hits out a day.

It finished a hard Matt finish.

You may as well give it a go as you have the machine you may as well as use it!!

If I had a machine I'd have no problem using it.
Last time I used it it was through a ritmo as well

It's decent for chases/patching. Can go on nice and thick, sponge it up and trowel up with the fat. Beats having to bond out and then skim imo.. That being said, I rarely use it because I'm too lazy/tight and have loads of half bags of multi in my lockup, some are so old they go off before you can take it out the bucket lol.

Next time you have an artex ceiling to skim try pva and multi you will love it, you will finish earlier make more profit as it's cheaper it's great
