Thoughts on this .....

It doesn’t matter what you throw at it, it starts from when you’re kids. Girls are given dolls to play with. All the way through education no one mentions construction to girls so it’s just not on their radar.

Doesn’t matter if you’re male or female, trades attract the same sort of personalities anyway. When I’m working with the builders I’ve got the most disgusting humour and get told I’m ‘not right’ in the head all day...... typical plasterer no?

i think vocational education in manual trades should be offered to all kids at a certain age and the last few years should be targeted at trades rather than the uni route for those that want it.
dumper driving or double maths?

And exactly how many women are going to be throwing 7n blocks about? It'll be just the same as plastering, where women claim to be plasterers but avoid any of the proper heavy duty graft.
As one of the great minds of our time would say;
pfft piss and wind!

There’s no need for heavy duty graft with the times having changed. State something not from the past century that I couldn’t lift in plastering. I’ll be honest if you say something I couldn’t. Also stamina is all in your head.

Love n stuff
Jess

You must be very strong Jess as you seem to of broken the chains of oppression placed on you by man..........:coffe:

This bullshit gets right on my last fcuking nerve. Whatever job it is, I (and I suspect every customer) couldn't care less who does the work, male, female, black, white, G**, straight, human, alien, fat, thin, as long as they do a good job.

There was some t**t whanging away on Twitter about women in construction being poorly represented. I pointed out that it's very simple, if more women apply more women will get jobs. I have never employed/contracted a female tradesperson, but then as none have ever applied that's hardly a surprise.

I think the point is most women don't want to be brick layers....

Mind you owning a beauty salon I could do... The amount of money that a friend makes from hers is crazy

To be fair, while some people have been pricks to me, most builders/ trades are just normal about it. Like you say they don’t care as long as you’ve done a good job.

And I agree with choppa. If you want to do something find a way to do it. It’s appalling for anyone to stand around bleating that they’re owed something.

They just need to make it a career option to all school kids

Construction isn't a career option discussed with ANY kids now. It's all about going to [squeaky voice with Australian interrogative on] Uni. [squeaky voice with Australian interrogative off] As apparently it's better to have a degree in 'Hemp knicker weaving' or 'Media studies' or being a 'social media influencer' than learning to do anything useful.

Still, a generation of useless tossers won't affect me so they can crack on with it.

Ugh those social media influencers are the worst!!

Your bait clearly wasn't as good as mine as @JessThePlasterer didn't bite the useless hemp knicker weaving, degree possessing tosser.
Better luck next time mate.

I don't really go in for baiting to be honest, seems like far too much effort. Plus I don't know @JessThePlasterer but she doesn't seem like the 'hemp knicker weaving' type to me. I could be wrong obviously, I'm not sure what Northern ladies prefer for squirrel covers.

I sat fair play to a lot of the social media influencers... I know a couple of people who are influencers and they have worked excessively hard with no clear idea if they will make enough money but they stuck with it and have made a nice life...

However a lot of the younger generations want to do the same but are not motivated enough and obviously the competition is a lot harder....

It makes me laugh, it's a complete load of b*ll***s. A pyramid scheme where a non-entity convinces the desperate and the gullible that they need that whatever shite the grifter is promoting. The poor saps on the receiving end are so gullible that they fall for it even though the people selling are called 'influencers'. They make nothing, have no skills and provide no service, it's evolution in reverse.

If there's any doubt whatsoever that 'influencers' are utterly useless to society it can be dispelled quite easily by imagining a simple scenario. What would happen if every single influencer were to drown in their own bullshit? Precisely nothing, not one thing would change. There are very few groups where it can be said that their complete removal would have no effect on the world, but this is definitely one of the few.

Very nicely put.

The person I know is a youtuber and makes a good living from it...

He makes content that people want to watch...

Companies want to work with him..

A lot of the instagram people I dont get but I know in the automotive world a few people are living a dream of fast cars and luxury from the content they create.

I agree that a lot of the mega famous influencers are not worth any of your time but they make a living doing something they enjoy.

How long that will last for who knows but if I was in that position I would be milking the hell out of it...

I'm not criticising them for taking the money, anymore than I would a football player for taking a bazillion pounds a week. The notion that it's a job/career is nonsense as they're getting handsomely paid for selling nothing.

It's no different than the people who set up a just giving page because they want to travel and don't want to work, it's begging at best and a con at worst and should be called out as such.

I think you'll find that @zombie would have said that with way fewer words.

Chris Harris made a career as a presenter off the back of youtube..

YouTubers create content that people watch and they get paid....

I dont get the just giving stuff as that is just begging.

I write content for people to read and I I get paid in fact I create a lot of content and have carved a very nice living out of it.

However I do my best to keep out of the limelight and keep a low profile...

Lot of "influencers" are rich from parents success and are "instagram" famous and I dont really understand what they do other than flaunt their wealth to people who will never get near that...
