so always trowel up and down and keep it that way through the whole set will help?
Sponge it
To prevent tiger striping you should get your first coat on tight and flat then lay in with fresh stuff and first trowel no water and even pressure
Thats f**k*d his pension up then hasnt it!??Tiger Stripes, the biggest mystery to haunt Thistle in the last 20 years. We have had gangs who have left decent work for years suddenly get tiger stripes everywhere, usually when they get a new trowel or the seasonal mix of the plaster changes. The best ways to prevent it are a) don't one coat, b) use less water, c) trowel with less edge and at a slightly different time.
It is caused by poor milling of the gypsum but BG will never admit that. I got told this unofficially by the man who actually invented Multi Finish who is now retired and has his pension paid by BG and of course will deny everything. Basically the "fines" in the gypsum don't break down correctly and cause the surface to appear streaky or tiger striped.
Amazing amount of knowledge on here...i was just trying to remember when multi was invented and released..maybe he told you that as well?Tiger Stripes, the biggest mystery to haunt Thistle in the last 20 years.
