Was just gonna say that....back buttering is to aid adhesion on heavy or large tiles. Simply not required on small format tilesDo you back butter metro tiles? 25x20?

My dad used to do a lot of tiling and that bought back some memories of using cardboard as spacers.Thats why I use ripped up cardboard from the tile boxes as spacers.
