after scraping off a artex and being left with a dusty powder like stuff on the lid and not bothering to try and brush it off.

and putting on too strong of a coat of PVA on it will make it blister and peel???

use bonding agent then ya dome

just put a coat off bond it on then leave over nite and skim plus you shudnt have been a lazy **** and just dusted it down to remove the dust

If it's really dusty then bonding agent will just sit on top.

Sounds like stabilizing solution or an overboard might be good options.

Is that actually a question??? I've read it 5 times?

Was thinkin the same?? Is this a wind up ?? d*m**o was before my time here but I'm gettin the feeling he has a,erm special place among the guys who have been here for a few years:RpS_sneaky:

If the pva is sitting on top of the dust & blistering & peeling it doesn't matter what you put on top it'll just come off with the weight of the plaster on it.
Rip down or overboard mate :rolleyes)

I defo think he's special marra ..............:RpS_thumbsup:

i think its more of a statement, like a high koo(or however its spelt).ah grasshopper, when ceiling dusty and pva too strong.it will blister and peel.you will learn.

it is the same job the guy did a runner from.
thay have scaped off the old artex and theres like a white dusty powder still on the lid when you wipe your fingers over it
it thonk the guy has put the glue on too thick as the ceiling was really shiny even when the glue was set

If you can, scrape the pva off & then use a stabilising solution then pva as normal.
Or wash it all off with warm water an a sponge then might still need stabilising then pva it.
Basically you need to remove the pva layer that's on top of the dust & make it sound to replaster. :RpS_thumbup:
