Just a quick one, when using natural travertine mosaic tiles that are unsealed, should i seal them before laying on or just before i grout them!
thanks

thanks pugworth, she spent £2000 on tiles for bath area and window area! better get it rite hey

nah fcuk it mate! throw em up quick like!

topps tiles do a good quality and reasonably priced sealer for travertine

Make sure you use a proper mosaic trowel Oasis cos if you get to much addy squeezing through might stain them as well.

o i will be lucius thanks, i will also use a tanking kit on the shower area to be safe. i always try to dab out bathrooms so the walls are nice flat and level! easy to tile on to. would't want and uneven wall with they tiles!

Seal them after grouting with at least 2 coats. Travertine is dense enough that it won't stain from adhesive and grout, but that's not an excuse to lag them with it. Use LTP Mattstone sealer, they come up really nice with that. It's runny as... so make sure you lay off any excess sealer or you'll get runs. Use a fine tipped acrylic paint brush like you would for waterbased eggshelll/gloss etc.

I wish some one would have told me this in my last house i did eventually suss on but what a nightmare i lost half a box of tiles :-[

thanks people, also iv taken the walls back to stud and the stud has a bow in it. i want nice flat walls so i was thinking of screwinf plasterboard stips to the stud then dabing the boards to the stud to get flatter finish then dd more screws when dry. would this be ok or is there a better way im sure there is!

Get some window packers. £3 for 100, 1-6mm

you could do that, ive done it before no need to dab it just make sure screws are long enough, if i had the room i would Gypline it or you could fix top hat to the studs and pack them out plumb all will work just make sure every thing is fixed properly, no bounce.

thats not a bad little idea that... like when your punters bought the cheapest tiles in the shop and not one of em is uniform.... i usually sort of twist the spacer on the 45 angle to get a bit more if needed but they have a habit of dropping out on walls... back to the folded rizla packet again..
either theyre not uniform or the batten i fixed along the lower edge is bent...

cheers for that avatar chris ive just got ready to go out an now im gonna have to pull the head off it before i go :o

happy new year

Hi I have been trying to get them in the shops for a few years now but having problems with the big companies i have been selling them on ebay... i make them for the same price ordinary spacers
