Used to do that years ago with tyzack trowels, I never liked the handles on them and preferred the handles on the Marshalltown trowels.
It was a tight fit with a slight overhang on the tang, the reason for doing it was the tyzack trowels at the time were better made and it was just the handle I didn't like.

They had a finish on them and a flat spot at the palm point of the hand. That's why I preferred the marshalltown banana handle, it rolled through the hand easier than a tyzack handle.
Loved them tyzack trowels, so well made.
