In the old days Mrs Smith would agree to 450 or whatever and when you finished you would get a cheque or cash... now it's all about payment terms and all sorts...

What a nightmare

I do totally different jobs to you most of the time I in and out a house in a day or two so all payments are straight away, sorted this one now he paid up.
Thank f**k my kids will get Xmas presents know

The last 3 months I've been doing a fair bit of domestic plastering both in/outside which has been enjoyable as they have been nice people
Some big jobs starting next month so back to 30 day payments!!

Think you tend not to bother with terms/payment, on in & out jobs most usually you don't have problems! ..
It was @imago who posted something a while ago about payment terms in place before starting a job
It is something I did then there is no confusion..

I had a text from someone today saying could I carry out the work on Christmas day as they will be away!

I replied.... "Mom I've told you I will be in tenerife! Give Lurker a call!" :endesacuerdo:

Incase of an emergency....my parent are in their late seventies and issues dont always happen just in the daytime...is that ok with you bobby?

My work mobile (and landline) goes on charge when I get home in the one part of the house that gets no signal. I pick up any voicemail when I get into the van the next morning. People ringing at night or over a weekend aren't the sort of people I'd work for anyway. :fuckyou:

The house landline is for emergencies and only family have the number. It's only an emergency if it's family, anyone else ringing evenings/nights/weekends is unlikely to get a response they'd be happy with.:)

My phone can ring all it likes i won't answer it. if I don't know the number or its a Client after hours. And if it's a client that rings after 10 pm at night I make sure I'll ring back at 6am they never seem to answer.

I love working in the building industry

I still expect payment as soon as finished. That is my payment terms.

I just send the builders a picture of the invoice not assed handing it. If I don't get paid in a week they get the call. There is a builder i do work for and I know he doesn't pay me on time on porpoise. He thinks it's a good laugh when I lose the head. Little does he know and he is the only one not to know i used to ride his wife b4 he was with her. All the other trades think it's funny as f**k. I keep saying to him tell the wife big Keith was asking for her all the lads just look the other way laughing at him.

Am not joking I still use paper ones. Sometimes I even use them to write out a material list lol
