I have just brought a green tyrol gun (£105 worth) as recommended by all. I started using it today and found it almost impossible to use i consider myself to be fairly strong but just to turn it for 1 min on the lowest setting took a lot of work to hold and to turn. i then decided to use my dads 20 year old metal gun with a couple of teeth missing and it was so much easier and the results similar. Is this normal or do you have to built like the incredible hulk to be able to use it or does it take a while for it to wear in?

Thanks Adrian

Put it on the middle setting how are you mixing the gear to stiff me thinks, low setting is easy.

Im mixing it to cullamixes instructions 5 parts tyrolean 2 parts water. To be honest its difficult to turn when there in no mix in the gun.

I got the cheepy metal one.

Some teeth missing still works fine.

Don't do enough to replace it really. Or only when completely sh..ged

I had 1 on hire a few weeks ago,it was easy ish to turn empty, and with pissy mix was no different.Sounds like its either stiff cos its new, or needs adjusting. It was only £12 a day to hire, then if you break it just take it back.

i dont think iv ever done enough tyrolean to warrant buying a gun and driving it round the country for a few yrs

I was going to use it a couple of times then sell it on. Cheaper than hiring as you can get at least £70 back on Ebay.

the cheap metal ones are on ebay for 12.00 upwards----might be good enough for very occasional use ??

I have the green tyrol one there mint! had a metal one years ago and the teeth kept flying out as I was flicking so chucked it in a skip after 2 jobs, but the tyrol one has done shed loads of jobs, comes in handy for sbr slurrys as well just add a bit of sand and it gives you a nice key.

you should have seen the first tryol gun they brought out it clipped over your shoulders.
there was only one local chap strong enough to pick the dam thing up.
we used to throw a full bucket full in and watch him stagger about

I have a pic somewhere of the early ones what come with a harness. I have an old steel tyrol one and its fine. Got a couple of green ones and they last for years. Spares are easy and cheap enough.

If you need a new one ask the tyro co for an ex demo. Discounted for cash. Registered post though but still a saving and its not even a demo.
