Well you shouldn't but I did in 1988. It is on the gable of the Chinese Chippy next to Wednesdays ground on the A61 if ever you are passing by. :RpS_lol: Still on today. PVA'ed it as well and it wasn't the waterproof version. Must have been the sandtex paint that went on it that's kept it going.
Sbr the paint and it should be ok. You just need to blend into the existing so wont be doing metre upon metre. You may have to leave it longer between coats though.
I did a tyrolean repair today and I had to overspray onto paint, I put sbr in the Cullamix. Maybe a tacky coat of sbr on thepaint would help but a 5c I didn't have the time to wait for it to dry.
i have a couple of old doorways to block up also some lunatic company have inserted cavity wall insulation and made a right mess of the render, hence i am concerned about the property looking like a patchwork quilt if i try to patch so i was intending to go over the full full elevation but am obviously concerned that the new wont key to the old. which i think you are of the same opinion. i am wondering then if there is a product on the market which i can use as a preparation over the existing finishes to ensure it stays on
this, i find rendering flush with the old then tyrolean into with slight over spray(cant be helped anyways) looks fine. i once left a small lip to tyrolean too and it looked gash, do it flush.
i have now noticed the original was not actually tyrolean but a cement mix which had been flicked on. have you got any idea what the mix would be eg is it neat cement.
