***UPDATE - BRITISH GYPSUM Q&A***

When you've been on here long enough you will realise this is how it works!

Dont get us started on the special technical department they set up to solve bags that ripped.

After 2 years of extensive research it was found that we were picking the bags incorrectly off the pallets!

I s**t you not!
You got to be kidding when they weighed a hundred weight we never had that sort of s**t but then they had lots of bags in bag sort of thing and no polythene that does f**k all, very rare for bags to split on your shoulder and never when grabbing them off the pallet, just Penny pinching

I’ve just had a message and some questions were still being received this afternoon so they have decided to answer all your questions in one go early next week.

What date will you be able to go in a pub?
They are starting production and delivery will start mid May

If your wanting to be smart then sorry but your barking at the wrong dog with ref to what date reference to go to a pub that's not my decision that's goverment and they will tell me.

Likewise delivering plaster is your business so what bit of it is stopping you from advising?

So ref Mid May are you saying you will be delivering but will take x weeks to take merchants back to pre corona stock levels.

We dont know if your delivering 1 bag or a million.

Its always the same generic evasive wishy washy statements from your company that we have to try and un pick.

Anyway ive said my bit I'm done will leave it with everyone else to discuss with yourselves.

Far from it, I used that because none can be answered with 100% accuracy. I wouldn’t like to guess how many merchants are out there and if they said the 15th May for example some would have it before, some on the actual and some after. I have advised that deliveries will start mid May. If trying to be informative and helpful causes you such an issue please accept my apologies.

No SIr, you used that to show your contempt towards a forum member.
I do not believe you would have made a similar comment to the purchasing manager of a large property developers.

Sorry you are wrong, if you knew me you’d know it was in no way contempt and I would say the truth to anyone irrelevant of their job title or role.

been calling all around the merchants who were shut over the lockdown who have only just reopened (Buildbase), and none of their stores have any.. No idea why because they were meant to have just reopened. Makes me think their staff are just sticking them all on the bay over the last few weeks.. hoping BG can get some into the stores soon if only to stop these f**k**g rip off sellers..

I’ve done the same thing this morning with a local merchants that has been shut over lockdown, just opened this morning for deliveries only and guess what no plaster available at all. They opened at 7, I eventually got through at 7.04am and I was told I was the 5 plasterer to ring up!
There’s definitely been gear going out of the back door mate!!

Unfortunately we live in a society that applauds profiteering

Possibly right although I went in buildbase a few days before lockdown and I said have you been quiet with everyone starting to wind down? He said it was busiest week they'd ever had and builders we're stocking up expecting the worst. They might have just sold it all last day or 2

Maybe, all their systems show full stock 'plenty of it'.. maybe the shops have existing customers orders / big national deliveries who have been contacted to give them first dibs.

I had a message from BG on their FB messanger saying merchants and DIY shops should be getting some in mid next week so who knows when the actual date is but hopefully soon.

Possible but I don’t think so.

Got told from my local buildbase they had none in stock, I spend a fair bit in there over the year but nothing major as plasters cheap. Builder I work for now and then rang up after me and they let him have a pallet. They're just keeping it for there better customers.

I ended up driving an hour away and buying 30 bags. Date till mid July so at least I can potter about in June without having to worry about this s**t.
