cheers lads, i think im going to have it done. i would like to get more domestic work. i currently do ok but in a town full of plasterers i think its worth pushing out that bit further.

thanks again, Mac

you think youve seen a town full of plasterers...come to cov.... its like queuing for cup final tickets at b+q and wickes in the morning. dead at the merchants though :RpS_sneaky:

Had my vans sign written for years pretty sure i never got one job out of it in fact caused me loads of agg people know where you are especialy if you likea pint after work and always getting broken into.

Had a friend with a sign written van and he drove the van like he stole it!He had plenty of calls from other drivers he had cut up on the road giving him aggro,so in the end he took the signage off.

problem is its hard trying to get new customers, i have a fairly decent domestic reputation but not enough to keep me working 5-6 days a week. i'v not really put much money into advertising/branding and bearing in mind the other plasterers round here drive around in k reg volvos, i see a bit of a opening.

i was going to get the truck done aswell, but i think ill leave that just for my own use. i need to get some good photos of my work to go on web and im a bit pissed off, all the jobs iv done and never once took a photo, i dont think just after shots will be good enough.

Was just offering as i get you all 20% discount plus if we can make a wall nice and flat im sure its not to hard to stick 10 inch letters nices and flat

Do you get much off you're website Steve?

most of my non recommendation work comes from the website mate. not all of it but id never be without it again, even it people see my van and notice i have a site they can go home and check it up so its not all about being top on page 1 of google (which i was the last time i checked anyway) but it does help

Nice van true what you say if you've got a sign written van they can check you're website
do you mix it up or are you mainly doing you're own stuff?

i mainly do my own domestic stuff, work for 3-4 builders (extensions, conservatories, garage conversions. lofts etc) and work with a couple of other spreads when im quiet or theyre busy. like i said ive hopefully just got a kitchen fitter on board and he already has a job for jan and a job for feb. a mate of mines just got loads of 2 biggish one off acylic jobs for next year so thats gonna be interesting. i try and steer clear of sitework

Its like all things, news paper adds, websites, van signing, if it looks shite it is shite, had all my vans written the same way for years, on domestic work id deffinatley say it works, most neighbours are nosey as ****.

**** knows. dont know if theres a way to find out, might ask danny if he can put a hit counter on there

my site is piss poor, it is a diy one, i have a counter and had 1100 visits since may. im just in process of getting one done professionally along with van for the reasons beddy said.

1100 visits for a **** site thats way down google isnt bad, hope for better when new sites done.

i did notice a difference in calls, september/oct i was getting about 1-2 per week.

might be worth checking out spunky, im going to try and stick to domestics and only drop onto site work when i have nothing, if im honest i cant really make £1.70 m2 pay, £2 is the cut off point for me.

mac youll probably find most of those 1100 are those evil robot thingys that just do it to get your number to try and sell you shite or tell you your SEO could be better

i have stats Mod on my site that shows who was looking at what time also tells you if they are bots ie google msn

Mac there's nothing wrong with the appearance of your site IMO, but being a webden site its mainly flash and search engines dont like flash, so you should see better results once you re-do the site as long as its not flash, by flash i mean you need adobe flash reader to view content

pay for a good site, pay for SEO. its a chunk of money, but it pays dividends and people are essentially lazy so if your not in the top 3 or 4 on the listings your going to be against it. We spend around £3000 plus vat a year on the site, money well spent.Get around 4-6 enquires a day.
