My overheads are OK I'm 43 got 2 houses work so I've got enough to pay bills don't do a fortune amd I don't kill my self keap my head above water and the nice thing about being my own boss I get quality time whith the kids money cant buy that

I'd rather work 10months of the year for good customers who appreciate skilled work at £200 a day than 12months solid grafting at £150 a day.. and I'd still have more money at the end of the year.

Yes the £300-400 jobs are few and far between, but it's swings and roundabouts, you charge what the job is worth, charging a set rate per day regardless of the work involved is thoughtless and absurd, you are essentially paying yourself a wage with no insensitive to work harder or not. To say it's greedy to charge decent money is ridiculous, most of my customers say my prices are very reasonable and range from £180-350 a day.. tight customers will always go for cheap trades, cheap trades will always go for tight customers.. and so the cycle continues. Luckily the sensible ones of us get the good customers too.

That’s where your different to me, I’m not happy just keeping my head above, I don’t want to survive I want to prosper.
Your overheads might be ok, I didn’t mean that. What I meant was work out your overheads properly (ie look at your end of year accounts, add up the sum of all your total overheads, include absolutly everything then divide it by the days you work) you’ll find your working for way less than £150 a day.
I agree time with the kids is beyond value but work smarter not harder and you’ll have more time.

I agree with you there.. never chase money. I work enough to pay for my hobbies and life style and that's it. Work to live and all that.

Weekends are not for working unless you have too.

Next time il be talking about this subject is about 5 7 years when 50 old when I'm selling up enjoying the money looking for a nother buy to let property for when I'm 70 at the end of the day you don't need millions to enjoy life but you got to be sensible about it becouse you don't whant kill your self and end up crippled whith back problems and bad joints ect my advice if you got money put it in property not a bank
