i have pva'd and skimmed both types of paper before now , my bosses at the time told him of the possible outcome he said carry on , let pva dry overnight then half hour before skimming it pva again and to be honest it was no different to any reskim other than a nice pattern appearing as it was drying, i was there for a week doing this kind of work and that was 18 year ago its still in place and not one crack , so does it work or not?
in saying this boards are paper and pva seals if its not moving it shouldn't crack , made myself sound like a chancer but my boss was paying at the time and he run a plastering firm :birra:

I would go with the pre grit then you can check the background the next day then make a better decision. I wouldn't use PVA I think the water out of the finish passes through the background which is what you don't want. The pregrit also provides a mechanical key which will give you a better chance of it staying on.
:baaa: :tanguero::hueco:

ive skimmed over it before pal don't worry...

I just applied a strong pva solution and chucked a couple of hanfuls of skim in with it for a bit of suction etc

Im south Yorkshire pal...but im damned if im going to feck about going around the houses phoning all the builders merchants up I detest em all with a passion all cloak and dagger and bullshitters...

all I want to do is just drive to my local wickes/bq and pick up a couple of bags as and when I need at my convenience...

really cant be arsed having to explain what the product is to merchants then arguing the toss over prices and having to buy pallet qty s blablabla...

tbh...its just like the same problem with trying to get knauff plasteres etc and that's why it wont sell never mind the previous bad press of failures etc

shame because id defo have given it a try by now...
