I've said 3-5mm was the spec years ago like I said I dnt measure my thickness of skimming but I can guarantee I put it on thicker than 2mm which is bolloxs5mm Fook that 2mm all day long.
Im supplying on all jobs so it would cost me twice as much!!!
If the boarding is tidy the screws are 1mm into the boards mate2mm the f**k**g drywall screws would poke through plus fibatape as for skim beads if those shite mini mesh ones ? Your knackered !! 2mm may work out on paper but not in practice unless your f**k**g nickname is Eggshell
Explain filling out to skim beads plus any imperfections inthe boarding (there is always something no matter how good/perfect you are)If the boarding is tidy the screws are 1mm into the boards mate
I don't feel the need to explain buddyExplain filling out to skim beads plus any imperfections inthe boarding (there is always something no matter how good/perfect you are)
Im not having a go at you Rob im just saying your boarding is only going to be as good / neat as the stud work etc your going over. I do mostly refurbs and extensions and boarding over existing work is a minefieldI don't feel the need to explain buddy
Everyone has there own way
Why do you take everything I say offensively
Or just wait for the down lighters to be cut outIdea for the mm debate..
Next week take a school ruler or mark a thin piece of lath at 2,3,4 and 5 mm ..stuff it in the first coat when wet and after 2rd coat is on and had second flattening..log it and report back...measurements taken in the the middle of the wall on boards and domestic overskim.
Thanks Vincent

25m2 must of been a killer all 2 & 1/2 bags of it .
Yep on small stuff defo, I knock enough up for 2 coats, get 1st coat on then add a splash of water to rest of gear, mix it up, lay it down, hey presto quicker set. Job done.Do most folk on here second coat with the same gear?
Can do, yes. do? Not often.Yea not a big area but I had to work round about 10 sockets, 4 pipes, and some tricky angles..so I think we did ok...i doubt many on here do a room in a set...probably over 2.
f**k off! Hampshire hog me old lover!
Who remembers using jute scrim and having a mix just to butter up joints and filling out scrims before you started even started skimming..
