The top coat could blow if theres a big f*ck of crack in it and lots of water gets in and freezes...although its more likely the whole lot will come away from the wall.

Ok and the frost won't cause a crack on a render without waterproofer in the top coat? and the problem won't get worse?
Depending on the type of construction waterproofer maybe used in the mortar.
You don't know what the **** you're doing do you lol

Good judge of CharacterSays alot about you then doesn't it
Well they wouldn't say put it in the top coat because that really depends on what rendering is being undertaken and what time of year. But if you think about it where does a frost occur?

Problem is Flynny you think you know it all.
How does a retarder protect against freezing conditions
Do you think waterproofer protects you from frost? What would be the point of having protection against frost if you didn't put waterproofer in the top coat?
Retarding is a process.
