Ok...do I wait overnight for the wax to fully dry or polish it after an hour or two?
I had a go with a gold tint in the wax and after an hour it seemed very hard to get any marks out of it even with a powered lambs wool polisher
Depends what wax you use. Most natural wax can be polished straight from application. I have used a synthetic wax before that I used to Polish the next day
