If I can give a man a van and a pump diesel or electric send him to a job and not have to worry about it because I know it will be done bang on . What is this man worth . Today l had a argument with someone about this . I would also consider someone like this highly skilled . I won't put down how much I think because this person that I argued with will think I influenced other opinions

Tough 1 mate.if you supply the van and other equipment you need the same return back I reckon.
My mate owns a sparky firm.pays them 10-12 ph and gets the same back.
My main plasterer quit this week.he was on 500 gross pw.26000 a year.decided to chase the dollar on his own.

We can't keep a labourer on £400 a week take home, expect a spread will need £800 take home ,people need into be incentivised , but it needs to make sense to both parties, not always easy to decide on that figure ,

I pay 150 to the guys if we are spraying 80m + maybe 200 a day but to be able to send them on a job like that I would say a decent meter rate maybe 12-15 dependant on job and them buy rotor stator but charge 60 a week for the van

It's a hard one but the more the pump on the more they are worth and the more they line your pockets
So meter rate comes into play.

oconnells would employ men on this system.
they would be charged so much per week for his van, the same for the pump.labourers would be also be charged. the plasterer/screeder would be given an amount of hours to complete the work. the extra hours that the man made would be split two thirds to the worker one third to oconnells. these bonus workers would also have holiday pay at union rate for 40 hours and a company pension.
direct staff were always kept away from sub contract workers.
oconnells were a very large plastering firm employing about 200 people on contract all over europe and the middle east.

But you work in London. £400 a week for labourer would be £100 over the top in this neck of the woods. As for a man with a van with a pump? I do know of 2 subbies that only work on a labour only basis and supply everything but materials. But they charge a handsome metreage rate not that I blame them. I would not make anything out of them if I employed them but good luck to them for avoiding having to buy the materials.

I do get the odd builder ask for a development price but if I don't know them then it is supply and fix price less net cost of materials. I get them to supply.

If I was on 500 and saw you sub skimming out @£4 m2 I'd feckin jack as well [emoji23][emoji23]

He may say less than you are thinking :) gives you room to pay him more later :) or he could totally over estimate at least you know where you are :)

Everybody says all about the part of plastering the more money and then leaving on there own . it all depends on the person and how they control other people . Then they act kind of like a manager hench the namer manager . They manage the lads . I know my lass's manager at a care conpany isnt on super money compared to her etc obv more but nothing special . If its the right man he is worth the money ?

Im meaning when people mention wages for lads etc there is so many different advantages of some lads to others . You can be the best plasterer in the world but not be able to spell or the best plasterer and have a degree ..... Depends on the domestic site difference etc aswell but its more meaning u cant class all labourer at one price and same with plasterers . They may all be good just more sense some than others . Its all part of the wage factor ....

Im finding every spread i use wants a minimum of 150.
Thats ok like you say on meterage. But for the likes of us when our main source is extensions and refurbs its never a case of skim that house out. Its everything. And the day rate we seem to get away with charging is approx 160 round here as a company. So not alot of room there

So it has gone from 500 to 750 i think 750 is bullshit if you have someone on the cards far to much. So how much are you thinking. And if it was 750 can i have the job.
