what do u guys pay ya labourers? by the hour or a day rate?

what do u feel is a fair rate? on average?

does it vary from domestic to commercial ?

day rate usually mate, anything from 30 to 50 quid a day depending on work rate, attitude and skill..

this is gospel. the plasterer i worked with after doing my course, his labourer was an ex crack head with a punctured lung. mad as a hatter but sh*t hot at his job.

youve got to have something wrong with you to be a spread :D ............i'd start them off on national min wage and train them, but then they get to the point where they can do a bit and you can make a bit of money on them and then they get to the point where they think there gods gift and then you can either put there wages up to suit both of you or tell him to go on his own way

a good plasterers labourer is very hard to find, all depends how good he is, when working2/1 a good labourer can expect to earn £500/600 per week and more, but a good one is very hard to find

true words tommy, i'd rather give a good labourer £100 a day and let him do his job than give some muppet £40 and spend the day moaning at him.

i was started on £35 a day!!!! was told there was more money the better i got!!!! its relative to there skill level. if they make it pay then fair play pay the man. if there not interested in swinging the trowel then let them stand there watching YOU make the money!

first 6 mounths  labourer===£30   first year and second year===£50...3rd year £60.forth year  £80-£90  .after that depends on them.if thy gona be happy wheir thy are or if thy wana push them selfs

mate id be cleanin your trowel with my tongue if yo paid me 500 a week. i get 200 a week. been doing plastering for for years now still on the same money. i get left on jobs frequently on my own and always finish to a great standard as good as my boss
 
Or go on your own if you have the work to go to,try and build up a clientel base tell people you will be working for yourself and will be happy to quote them for their work.
 
I wouldnt pay more than £50 a day.I could get a spread for £75 ffs in current climate.If he was labouring for 2 of us then obviously a little more (little as possible more !!!!)
 
labouring has changed,my labourer was mixing browning in a bath and finish with a podger,now i never use browning and he uses a mixing drill.

so £40 or £50 a day if he can drive.
 
at the end of the day all rates are based loosly around the industry hourly rate for the trade labs used to be around 7 per hour with plasterers based around 15 plasterers are getting industry guides around 11-13 hr based on price rates per m at the moment so labs will be getting the min wage if there was no min wage it would be less. in this current climate,

most spreads I know have ditched the idea of a lab at the mo because they cant afford to pay em, they all seem to be mixing/prepping themselves. lets face it what is a lad 16 out of school prob no quals expect to earn. I was happy with my £37.50 a week if I was getting 250 i wouldv ben willing to ork 24/7 and still smiling, you have to earn your way up in this game the days of easy weed money are gone. is it any wonder the jam roles are getting the jobs when labs are asking for 300 upwards a week ???
 
thing iv found with my last 3 labourers, which is why i dont have them anymore, was i started them all on £50 a day, after a yr they were on £60-£70 depending what their plastering was like. but they were all reasonable. 1-1.5 bags of skim a hit, bit of beading, not too great with the floating usually. first 4-8 weeks no drill allowed. podger only. moaned like **** everytime they got a sweat on. hated having the piss taken out of them. always had a strop on. thought they should be paid extra for finishing at 6, but still get the same if they finish at 2. for some reason they couldnt grasp swings and roundabouts.

found after about a yr, someone would have asked them to do the odd lid, they would charge say £100 for the day, got the arse that i must be making £50 a day out of them and ended up jacking or getting sacked. i ******* hate labourerers
 
Ill have you know I'm having treatment on my G** little ankle at the minute and should be back to full fitness in a month. You'll always be a floppy haired puff....unless you cut it off lol

anyway , back to labourers , i know it depends on how much work you got , if your struggling then i can understand it , but if your reasonably busy then a labourerer will earn you money , we do three hits a day which would not be possible without a labourer , i look after mine , they look after me , easy peasy lemon squeezy , oh and nick , why do you make labourers knock up by hand ? isnt that torture ?

coz usually they are cocky gobly little T***s. and it makes them appreiciate my drill :-) if they dont clean it properly, theyre back on the podger.

thats how i had it when i started. they had a drill and it sat in the van for the first couple of months. if u cant labour properly, ul never be a decent spread
