Today I'm scratch coating a house about ten miles away so out of bed at 6am,make a bit of lunch and have a couple of cups of coffee.Leave the house around 7am which is a bit early but we have to move the mixer to the job to get set up for 8am.It will still be dark enough at that time but by the time a good mix is in we'll be ready for action. If I'm in Dublin I have left the house as early as 5.30 am.

Id sooner do early mornings that late nights....im an early bird so would start the earliest time the customer would let me....if that was 7am i'd be more than happy with that.

Whenever I can get out of this bed, the joys of self employment .
My days of giving myself a hard time are over .Nobody gives a shoite past the job ,and work is an animal that will consume you and crap you out the other end without a care or a thought straight into old age if allowed.

Half 5 Nicm Jaysus!
How long does it take you into Dublin?
I like to be on the job wherever it is for 8, cup of tea before I start, mix up at half 8. That's this time of year though, be earlier in better weather/lighter mornings

School run on Domestics most don't want you in any earlier & if you do try - you have all the family in the house kids- cats - dogs etc etc - best waiting till everyone's out & set up

Last big job I did in Dublin was in Stillorgan, took me about an hour to get there,I hate rushing so allow plenty time driving.Started at 7am,finished at 3.30.In early out early.

Ive been working on domestics for nearly 15 years and have never been told to wait till after the school run? The only time its annoying is doing a hsl. Otherwise you're out the way in a room somewhere.

It's how I've found it also domestic for 16 yrs now , although the time I've been doing it has no consequence

idealy I get there at 8 but mostly it's 9-9.30 as I like a lie in and used to take my daughter to school. Usually finish 4.3-6 with a crafty pint on the way home every now and then. Starting to have the odd day off in the week now too but don't do anything exciting but who cares? :)

I've been lazy this last month or so, not getting on site until 8.30-9 and going about 4. I'm working about 35 miles from home though and can't be arsed to get up in the dark. Usually I'm on site for 7.30 and finish about 5, depending how engrossed I am in my work.

Well got to admit I'm getting later and later starting at moment and also earlier to leave...

I have all on being disciplined to put a second gauge on these days just can't be arsed anymore...

I also try and 1 coat or second coat out of same mix if I can get away with it...

Intact really I should try and get another job I like really!

There's not a hope in hell of getting from Wexford to stillorgan in an hour frank!
I'm betting Kildare [emoji12]

Christ @zombie ... you sound like my old boss, who was once a great plasterer but now rough as, gets there late and finishes early not got much work on. Working for peanuts. Sad really. He once had it all, then lost heart in the trade.

Be carefull mate ...

Just popped into work at 7 this evening, just got back
I usually set off at 7am if local, 6:15 if London central close to the river or south of the river. Usually trying to finish at 4 but rarely happens most days 5 or 6 but every now and then stretch it till 7 or 8 in the evening
