I returned to the job today.
I cut out a groove and saw the scrim underneath, I then taped and jointed it.
My client informed me that the crack gets bigger when it's hot so my assumption was that the board has benn attached to sister joists (one each board) and the joists are moving independently of one another. Without cutting out the board, spanning the joists in question and patching there isn't much more i can do.
