i normally use clouts but been told staplers are quicker ???

How long does it take you to nail on a bead ???? how much quicker can it get and even if it is quicker .... who cares if you save .2 of a second fixing a bead. you will have to buy a staple gun and ss staples. I have never bought a clout nail in my life....they are all over the place.

staple guns are alot quicker church ;)..........they might take a littler getting used to thats all .........ive got the orange bandq one at the mo and it works but isnt very reliable.....whichever one you get make sure its heavy duty and takes the larger 140 staples, most of the time the contractor will supply them for you

not any more Rich, not seen a clout nail on site for years

I was thinking the same church you dont seem to see clout nails anywhere just screws which are useless putting beads up with especially on metal stud.

Been buying nails for about the last 3-4 years never use to allways a freebie from builders
i use nails sometimes but most of the time i put them on with some skim it s easer to plum the beed i find i find nails can pull the beed sometimes

B&Q church the rapesco one for about 12 notes takes A 53 staples 6mm 8mm and 10mm i think but the 8mm are cheap and are fine for beading onto board, also the gun is more accurate than say the stanley silver one - you can get the staple through the small hole on the bead its that accurate cos of little arrows on the head guide where the pin is going to land

they dont rust on board normally it dries in a couple of days so they dont get chance it tried a little experiment in my own house i blasted about 30-40 staples in a skim stop bead on a external corner a not one drop of rust an that was at xmas time

Nice one madmonk, allways good to experiment. :)

maybe when i tried i was doin it wrong, felt to me like the staples were not up to the job of holding the bead properly and they always felt flimsy

They are rich it only takes a hammer happy chippy to get near one and they are off but when your on price on site its the only way forward.

screwfix are well cheap for staples. they are weaker than nails but u need to pus the bead in and be accurate with the staple. if u fire it in the middle of a hole it will still move slightly. needs to be edge of hole. by the time the gear is on its as strong as nails. much better for d+d walls where there is no fixings. used to do my nut trying to bang nails into the side of the other board. and then the nail was loose and u could pull out with ur fingers anyway

when i used to do site work i used to get the lab to go around and cut beads after he had mixed up then when i was skiming in one room i would go into the next room whilst trowling up and stick the beads on with fat, this way when you go to skim the next room on the next hit the fat will have set but not dried out so there will be no suction ;) oh and it will save time (what else are you going to do between trowels)? also you get to keep the nails for yourself ;D

I've been using staples for years, I use a Rapesco Heavy duty with 12mm staples, punches em straight through the bead if you catch it right, it's the dogs and well quick beading up.
