Because it's the cheapest? It seems odd that there was lime, then gypsum but nothing new since.

No idea, where I'm from we used to have sand cement and lime mix rubbed up dead flat, Pb only came in after iron curtain gone

I was using some feather finish filler/leveller on a floor today and it came up so smooth it made me wonder why (other than cost) it, or something like it, wasn't used on walls.

Used to do coving like things, or barrel ceiling kinda things with a beer bottle then rub it up with a semicylinder shaped wooden float, used to take ages. And usually brickies used to do it, plasterers non existent back in those days, only dryliners today as well

to be honest its an interesting point... Knauf Airless came out... thats doing really well... not sure if its gypsm based... but being Knauf it may not be... @knauf @Runswithscissors

But or somethingt to come on the market and compete it would have to be dirt cheap and easier to apply for it to make a massive impact...

I think the main factor is that bg dictate the market, any new product would have to be far superior to bgs products and cost equal or less.there is knaufs products that are great but take mp finish for example, similar price to multi, great on boards but not great for reskims whereas multi is good for reskims so multi has the upper hand,it's what merchants will stock because it is the most versatile product we have atm.

Knauf Ready Mixed Plasterers are all marble based - not gypsum

They are the future!!

Anyone interested in more info, contact Knauf on 01795 424499

I am sure that during 2016 Knauf will run more demo days for the RMP products for TPF members....

knauf cannot confirm or deny that :-)

I am 99.999% sure that the wickes finish plaster is MP finish as well :-)

Strangely I was discussing the issues raised on here about the small MP Finish bags stocked in Wickes with our acct manager... Will send him this link tomorrow

Zombie - MP Finish is now at Wickes... (as above).

With more people asking for Knauf products, merchants will duel stock and get products in.... But when the market is heavily dominated by one player, the outlets will be dictated by what the bulk of the people ask for.....
