The customer I believed owed money to me for work that I had done, I rang him and he was evasive, he said" I am not saying that I do not owe you money, I am saying that the money you claim you are owed is equal to the work that is not yet done" He continued in this tone,we had this conversation a few times, I never got the £450 I was owed.There was only a small amount left that could not be done as he never got it ready or at least never let me know that it was..'lagos logic 'I call it as that was his home town...

Not baffled, bemused, You know the feeling when you are been shafted but what can you do about it, I rarely return when I am annoyed as I do not like police stations especially the cells, counting tiles all night is not fun, if it was serious money, he would pay or leave the country, I have had a customer change addresses when he knew I was upset...

No, just a normal plasterer who likes to get paid, also likes to scare those who wont, but sadly I am anti-violence ironic been an ex boxer albeit a not very good one and an ex doorman, I really do not like the hassle, so avoid been in confrontational situations if at all possible..

So is he correct? Is there £450 worth of work left to do or is that HIS valuation?
 
we had a young man from the lagos area around here this week .he has a block of 10 flats to be floated and set in harwich, job is right ready, but must be started straight away. i declined his offer. in a few weeks it will all ends in tears!

Three hrs for one man at most, a very tricky individual who also had money problems, we had a drip feed all the way through and I helped and advised on lots of his building stuff for free, live and learn as they say. If the work that had been left was equal to the £450 then there would not have been a problem, contractors sometimes hold back a larger amount than the value and then get that bit done by someone else cheaply pocketing the difference..

No point ever entering a site if you are wary, regardless of creed or colour, I had a mate who did five flats internally float and set ,turned up one morning to find the site ring fenced(pardon the expression) and he had to beg security to let him get his tools, he never got one bean from it, lesson here was , don't swim out too far

unnecessary confrontation that is, problem was I could never walk away from it either.
The hassles of police interviews, courts etc, time consuming and expensive. been in hospital after been bricked from behind is not a great memory either. Its easy to fight,win or lose but it does not end there these days, cctv,mobile phone footage,witnesses, it goes on and on

you have to be a little bit sneakier these days mate no one wants to have a gentlemans fight to settle a greivence anymore they all think they gangsta init, or are after copmensation when you beat em. i feel you though i bet there not one of us on here thats not been ripped off at some point.
with regard to private work *****, gypos, africans...ect should all be avoided. they live in a different world to us none have got any manners and do not view us (the british) as equals. every one of em will try to get out of paying you some how. best to avoid even if it looks a decent job in my opinion

In an ideal world yes, its there on camera but it does not give context, cctv is narrow focus, not a word of what is said is recorded, cps say if you say a and they say b, well it did not happen or is not proven, people use cctv and provoke reactions, basically most people would behave if they were not under big brothers eye or pay the consequences
 
I know what ya saying dude but at same time, people wouldn't behave.. theres a lot of horrible ***** out there, bullys, that will throw their weight around and pick on those smaller or weaker.. so in those cases.. cctv has its uses! Too many arseholes in the world that literally need shooting, aint got a good bone in their body.

Ten yrs on the doors in Newcross south london and stockwell south london has showed me the lowest forms of humanity in this world, gangs of twenty strong wandering around looking for victims, people so out of their boxes on charlie or drink that they are literally senile. girls so drunk getting in to"cabs" and not knowing their own addresses. I hate bullies, whether its a bouncer, cop or a wannabe , the law is odd assault is a very grey area ,self defence the same, all very subjective, treat others as you would like others to treat you is the way I live. I would never hit a vulnerable person ie young or too drunk to stand or someone that is just upset but I seen it all the time.. The law is subjective in the extreme ,hence we are surrounded by idiots who imagine they have carte blanche

The ignorance of people is beyond me, they pick on those they perceive as weaker.. just to make themselves look and feel good? yet would run a mile if someone bigger n harder than them did it to them.. why on earth would you ever treat people badly?? just be nice, it aint hard, the world, and even THEIR world would be a nicer place! And if they really wanna look big n tough, why don't they just sort out the bullies, thatd make them look a lot tougher, its ******* pathetic, wankers, can not stand bullies in any way shape or form!

To top it off though, is the gamble these little ***** take, they pick a fight with those they perceive as weak.. how do they know that guy isn't a Kickboxer.. MMA fighter.. Boxer.. Special forces.. or just a nasty **** when he loses his temper. ******* disgusts me, just watching people fight pisses me off, makes me so angry!

I have had to ask martial arts specialists, and boxing champions to leave on occasion often to do with their friends behaviour, these guys were always perfect gentlemen, cowards are the most dangerous, I saw some nasty "glassing's " done over the years.. its the kids we need to fear nowadays more so than hardened gangsters
