Was that question to me Simon?
If so; I don't decide what sort of internal system a client wants. Usually the decision is made by the architects at the drawing stage, I don't think many architects even know about S&C anymore.
Just a general question, not really directed to anyone why it doesn't seem popular anymore or that, don't get me wrong we do have timber frame sites and that here of coursd, but sand cement is still more common.

We obviously do have some timber framed places but most in my area are still brick and block built but almost all are direct bonded inside.
Builders always go on about how much less it cracks than S&C.
With board prices creeping (cough) ever upwards maybe S&C might make a bit of a comeback.
Mind you are there enough skilled spreads to go back to the days of S&C?

If I’m honest I prefer sand cement over any other plastering works and actually enjoy it I done 12 months on a firm that did restoration I said said yeah I can render but with restoration it’s a whole new ball game I worked on the German embassy in London and I picked up so many tips from blokes who were there to me it’s real craftsmanship and to see a bloke who can run insitu in sand cement really got me interested the mixes and how not to rule off straight away (proper head f**k) and they kept the masons seperate from the restorers nothing but utmost respect for them old blokes who do it, im pretty honest in saying that I don’t actually do big jobs but get by and I’m busy but some of things I’ve learnt I bring into what I do Day to day

I do loads of s&c since moving up here, love it, once its left long enough to cure it hardly ever cracks.
I been on this thing for ages in my brain where you know where in van on your own and think random stuff I been thinking for ages about putting the fibres they put in screed into my scratch coat I hadn’t seen anyone do it but I’ve asked around and apparently a few do do it so my next render job I’m gonna throw a few in my thinking is it’s sort of like horse hair way about things

Doing about 190sqm of internal sand cement atm and it's a absolute dream.

lay on scratch up cup of tea lay on rule off and scratch the next wall then devel float the first wall and keep laying up and floating until 3pm. clean up go home. absolute dream.

We did it with the ones from Wickes but only in the scratch coat which still cracked but the top coat stayed good
I was only gonna go scratch coat but now if I get a terraced house hack off and re render in s&c I take it off then do a slurry mix over it sbr sharp sand Cement now and I do it every job now a bit of advice off a old school spread didn’t do it for ages then when told I thought I’d do it and now I can’t let go of it it’s part of how I go about things cos in my mind if I didn’t do it and it failed I know I would blame myself for not doing it even if it wasn’t reason it failed

Probably not now mate. Luckily it's how we were all trained, but over here we don't have courses that I know of, and there is no young lads coming through anymore, too much like hard work, so after my generation, maybe a few years younger, there is basically nobody coming through so possibly won't be in the future once more an more older ones retire etc.

You can have my sister I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy but for you I will allow it, and medals don’t believe it my scouts badges out weigh your fake ones

I've been putting screed fibres in S&C base coats for years and the finer fibres in the topcoat also.
