My son and his pal often go to Switzerland on the French border to do renovations. His pal owned a chalet which is used for skiers in the winter months and mountain bikers in the summer months. The work does grow as the neighbours always want work done to their properties.
Still plenty of prefabs in north Essex. They where planed to be redeveloped in the 60s. Those that needed a mortgage had to have a bank loan so that a brick skin could be built .
In the 60s we floated plasterboard lath sheets on ceilings. The material was Thistle fibre browning mixed with sand 50% sharp sand 50% soft sand. 3 parts sand 1 part Browning. This was before the modern pre mixed browning plasters.
