I don't work for K Rend, no. I have had the fortune of working with and being around guys who have been round the block at bit.

You win every job you quote then? Impressive! What if another guy comes to quote who says he uses the gear they want all the time and its a good choice? You end up getting discredited and dismissed, that's if you get that far and they even ring you as they are only ringing the guys with the...

    K Rend K1

Maybe I should! We had a gang who got them not often but still got them, and others who never got them. The gang who was getting them hasn't had them for months now we've shown them how to rule off old school. (Nothing special, just slow down a bit and work the gear around a tad more.) And...

    K Rend K1

Between the spray lines, yes. It's easy to see if you have this problem because all the splits will be horizontal or follow the lines of your spray pattern. We are talking fractions of a mm here where a quick whip over the top with a rule doesn't push the gear together properly.

    K Rend K1

Nope, been spreading renders for over 30 years now. There was a time there was something to whine about but the gear these days just about puts itself on the wall. No one makes a bad render these days. Even so, you still get the whinging that some of the gear is slightly different to others...

    K Rend K1

Not if you think about it. The air pockets left by a quick whip over by your average house basher with a rule get more of a chance to dissipate themselves in slow setting conditions as the gear pulls itself together and sorts itself out.

    K Rend K1

Lol, those splits are caused by rough ruling off leaving air pockets between the spray lines. That got figured out months ago. We've never had it but I know guys who got it all the time. They don't anymore though. Always the gears fault tho.... A spread who doesn't know everything? I'm not...

    What bead thickness for hp12

10mm if you want to keep the reps happy. You'd have been better with uf base maybe, unless it's lightweight block then you'd need hpx.

I've had issues with everything. Such is life. I don't tend to worry most things are easily sorted.

    Krend advice

Over a base coat same day scrapes should be more than feasible. If you want to overnight, mist the base coat over with water before topping and mist the top over with water before you leave it for the day. Should give you an extra couple of hours to play with.

    K Rend

No, if anything it would be the other way round. They make a lot of gear for a lot of different brands from Belfast.

Link Removed Compared to the other Silicone stuff, this flys on. It's about 90% the handling of the standard stuff. Good gear. No more FT. :numberone:
  19. Jimbob9

    K Rend

You need to develop render for a living. You make it look easy! The Silicone requires more mixing and a good push through the pump compared to the standard stuff, it always has. The clues in the name. The Silicone isn't about the applicator though, it's about the punter. You know, the...

There's a change in the wind over at Weber..... All render can crack if the walls tell it to.

    K Rend

Erm, just done 300 bags of the stuff when it was warm. No bother. Over a dry base coat same day should be ok, if weathers middling to warmish just mist over the base coat with water to stop suction drying it out too quick. Might get the odd little split if you don't, keep a lump of render from...

    Jub carbon base

Manufacturers would prefer that you buy from merchants as trying to manage loads of accounts and small orders from across the country is a pain, they'd rather deal in full pallets. Which is why merchants get much better rates as they do deal in full pallets.

    Krend on painted render questions

Depends on the top coat, next day for mineral bagged gear or at least a week, ideally 2, for the bucket thin coats. I'd be tempted to suggest a thin coat in your situation ,lot less weight hanging on paint. I'd be even more tempted to suggest hiring a scabbler and getting messy for a few...

    Krend on painted render questions

Hpx is the next level to Hp12, even more adhesion with fibres for a bit of flex and increased strength to enable tighter depths. It's still not warranted over paint.
  27. Jimbob9

    Krend on painted render questions

To be clear. Hp12 will stick to paint just as well as parinter, it's an adhesive that is certed to glue polystyrene to walls. What K rend won't do anymore is warranty over paint, even when they did their warranty only went as far as bonding to the paint, if the paint blows nowt to do with them...

    Parex Monorex fail

The mixing issue is a stretch in my mind. The plasterer wouldn't have been able to spread it if it wasn't mixed. Parex doesn't need that much mixing anyway.
  42. Jimbob9

Which option should I go for?

Has anyone explained to you what Nanotechnology is other than a marketing buzz word? I can guarantee render manufacturers aren't dicking around with sub atomic particles in their mixing plants and they'll be all buying their resins from one of a handful of places in Europe who won't be either.
  43. Jimbob9

    Advice please

Entire system has failed. Architect will have specced the wall build up and the applicator who will have been the cheapest bidder will have probably cocked up his quote and looked for cost "efficiencies" once he was contractually obliged to complete. Ergo, complete fooking minefield best not...

Only cracks, if it falls off then that's manufacturers territory and yours to ensure you put it on right. Cracks have always been a hassle because they're never anyones fault.

Have a look at Rendit, been doing it for years. Some of the stuff their lads can do with render is magic.

They cover against any cracks that may crop up which manufacturers don't. They came in very handy a few months back.

    Parex monorex

Price is about much of a muchness, I pay a little bit more on the smaller jobs but the guys I get it off know what they are on about and offer extra guarantees. The average SIG till whacker hasn't a clue, and getting a Parex rep to answer the phone sometimes is a skill in itself.
