try hemp plaster then coat it with primal this will make it waterproof but the hemp can take the heat

try chip about 2ich old plaster scrim all way round doorway so you can scrim tape over the joint all round .brush some pva round the edge of old part you chipped of and old plaster you can blend it in then this will help slow the suction put first coat on let that pick up pretty firm then...
