that sounds like a cowboy way of doing it you can get grout guns but you cant beat doing it by hand the finish is so much better and more importantly no come backs.
good chance of ghosting at 6mm and you would probably see the mesh bleeding through also.
i,ve been using weber ocr its nice gear on 10mm beads and stops with full mesh no ghosting or mesh bleeding through.
take the coving down pva and replaster i,ve had blistering on some older artex ceilings
had to let it set then go over again.
you could always overboard then skim then put up new coving.
love Tyrolean get the mix right and goes on great a bit of a ball ache doing it by hand tho,
r*f*n* do a spray hopper with hoses am tempted to buy one myself.
@tyzak i got the tc15 through minster they did it as a favor as they stock Weber mainly.
to be fair the lass did say she would ring k-rend see if she could do something but i dont hold out much hope.
customer chose the colour from the sample pack they sent me which i must say when i show...
Your thoughts please am doing a thin coat job at the mo and the customer chose light bronze TC15
primed the wall today with the same colour as the top coat and now she is not sure about the colour now.
wants it darker or in terracotta so before i ring k-rend in the morning who are very good...
knock up enough hardwall first if your a one man band then blind the wall with first coat to kill suction then away you go,of course if you had a joddy mixer would be a lot easier for you. i love float and set.
looks the same stuff terraco do which i now see on the shelf at B&Q not seen it in powder form tho,
not used any new plaster yet only a matter of time by the looks of it.
Dont know where you read that Vincent but round here there,s plenty of chancers/johnny foreigners
that work for a lot less p**ses me off big time i,m rendering at the mo coz the chancers cant only thing i,m up against is the weather there be no big rates round here until we send them all home...
i,ve done the job the customer was happy she said her friend wants coving done at their place
i did say does she want normal coving oh no they want what you have just put up.
i,m having nightnares already cant use a coving cutter as it marks easily and had to get used to using a miter box again...
Well said bruv, for me to learn all of the above cost me 5 long years long days/weekends,
and the wrath of my guv(r.i.p) if i made cock up, The good old days.
they have not supplied any adhesive thats why i asked if i could use an alternative
looking at the price of the adhesive i,ll probably use gripfill none solvent looks the same product different lable.
thats how i was taught but johnny foreigner just spats leaves it a while by that i mean he goes for a dump then a fag gets a quick nap then spats again when it comes to top coat just before priming
its a quick scrape over with the trowel.
I agree entirely but they have already got the coving £28 a pack with 4 in the pack i prefer
the gypshit stuff and cornice i can put that up all day long whistling a happy tune.
H i all priced a room for plastering and coving which the customer has already got,
thing is i,m not keen on using the adhesive which is in a tube and looks like clear glue.
Can i get away with using normal coving adhesive the coving is quite ridgid but its not paperfaced
feels like polystyrene...
i do when bedding the mesh in altho jonny foreinger i work with they use spats one Bulgarian lad likes the speed skim too as i have to restle it from him now and again.
The thing is if you were a half decent spread you would of removed the socket face
block connected and taped the wires poked them back in the hole and made good.
This is what i do if i were doing a job on your home.
their pva is quite good tbh. if i,m on a good earner i,ll treat myself to unibond but most of the time
its good old reliable wicks.
come to think of it why are you using pva.
with the price of materials on the up and i do buy bulk on line with beads be they thin coat
or render beads i,m now trying to make space in the garage and thinking i should buy bulk
multi finish any one got any ideas as to who i should buy from.
the lass in B&Q said its all to do with brexit even the multi is £6.20 a single bag
cheaper when buying five or more,
its a sad state of affairs when businesses start to panic first thing they do is jack up prices.
on a positive note the people at k-rend are very helpful just wish the likes of...
I got called back on a chimney breast once had a damp patch that would reappear when it rained
in the bedroom tried all sorts to dry it out when the owner said he had work done on the chimney
the only thing left was for me to hack the damp patch off cut out the bricks and there was the culprit
a...
true dan its a minefield buying trowels these days permashape this flexi that
ergonomic grip always try to avoid made in china defo avoid plastic for skimming
Not the trowels they once were i popped the rivets on the one i bought in 2010
i stick to MT extra lite theses days for float and set work and good solid German
steel trowel for rendering.
That said its your hard earned at the end of the day spend wisely.
