There were no mixers years ago. Bath rake, stick ,podger. Plus you had to scrim up your hessian and cotton scrim with a bucket of gear before you started. Then there were all the planks to set out to get a gauge of ceilings on. You needed a labourer then. Don't know your born these days.
Moisture board isnt supposed to be skimmed. It defeats the whole object of the board. If it is to be skimmed then it must be pva'd as a mate of mine when he didnt do the boards in the shower area at lancs cricket ground .It all shelled off.
Had this problem a few times. Had to double pva them, the problem was mainly with duraline boards which hadn't been up that long. Talked to some lads about it and they said bg compensated them for having to pva.
Anyone else had problems with duraline boards.Nightmare today went straight in as soon as I put It on. Gyp bonding it all tomorrow . I tried it in other areas and it was the same result. Ive had it before when sites have been open to the elements was wondering wether to get hold of bg to see if...
If the fixers are spot on then its a piece of piss.Alot easier than plastering and the finshed walls far exceed any plastered wall. But like I said the fixers have to be spot on.We did Bolton college tech department and didn't get one client snag .
The reason they give for using beads against frames is to stop cracking.Decorators always cork around the windows so there's no need for beads just architects thinking there clever
This is the correct and only way.All this b*ll***s with stop beads against the window is another load of shitebrought in by no nothing designers and architects.

Two men walking they're dogs ones got a labrador the other has got a jack Russell.Fancy a pint says one,but it's ten o clock said the other where will we get in with the dogs at this time.Theres a pub up the road that let guide dogs in we'll pretend we're blind said the other. The one with the...
You dont plaster them full stop. The fst is brilliant ,you can water it down to make it like cream. Spread it on and scrape it off. Quick sand of the angles the next day.The finish when painted is perfect and better than any plastered finish. You can finish a wall half way through and go back the...
Best thing on the market for spreads nightmare for fixers. If the fixers are good and do the job properly then its a breeze. Why are you skimming it you use the ready mixed fine surface treatment.Did Bolton college and didn't get one client snag. Done properly the walls turn out perfect.I...
57 in october cant wait to retire .40 years doing this shite doesnt do your body any favours. My right hand is full of arthritis and its getting worse.Seen the world doing it but apart from that its just another job.
I know I had to google them. The sparks put them on the plasterboard(there stickyback plastic)where there lights are going we skim over them and when the plaster is dry they show through and the spark cuts his holes.Simple but brilliant
What a great idea. All sparks must be issued with these. No more dry plaster getting dragged across your wall ceiling and no more getting covered in skim
Mark the wall at 120 intervals Cut out your sockets mix the gear put the gear on the wall place boards on the wall, tap in with straight edge.Tap the ceiling and skirting board lines .Square the internal angles with the corner of plasterboard if you havent got a square.Job done.
Even if you get the tiles off you need to get the blobs of glue off. I Re skimmed one years ago and went over the blobs. The glue came through after a few months. Overboard is the answer
Don't have to prove myself to a no mark like you.You seem to be obsessed by me for the simple reason I think speedskim are shite.maybe you need to get a life and get off the plasterers forum for a while. Anyway I've got better things to do than waste my time talking to someone who is obsessed...
