got a bit of internal rendering to do in me utility room after ive damp proofed it, can anyone recommend a good, cheap waterproofing additive, the walls are piss wet at the moment, protimeter nearlly blew up when i tested it but hopefully the ultracure will sort that. i know the words "good" and...
i swear by silver scrim, its all ill use now its a lot stronger so dosnt fray as much, like all scrim though it dosnt get properly adhesive until half down the roll! transtools does the best price around as seen in the previous post, its summat like 6 or 7 quid down the merchants
if you wear glasses or contacts i cant see it being a problem, heights not a problem, thats why god invented ladders, hop ups and for the more adventurous of us, stilts.
my first mix always goes on the spot board cos it needs to be on quick and the second i just take out of the bucket, theres no real reason why i do this, probably just cos im lazy and cant be arsed cleaning the spot twice!
i always tend to work to chalk line for accuracy, it takes a while and is a bit novice like but i'd be gutted if i got round the room and id dropped a bit, the nails to hold it in place is a good tip as well, ive had a bit come down on me head before, soul destroying
anyone got a quick sum for working out the amount of materials needed when using S&C, theres gotta be an easier way than my current guestimation technique
if it was me and i had the time i would chase out the cracks and bond them in, only problem with that is if your like me once you start chasing i find it hard to stop and the next thing you know the your picking up the ex-wall from the floor.
the easiest option would be to scrim, i do it after...
if its just re-skim work i would go in at about 200-250 per room excluding mats, but im on the other side of the country to you, doubt anyone could give you an exact price unless they knew the meterage and what a spread roughly charges round your end
thats what i was thinking, 3m of poly maybe but surely not plaster, unless you use 5 tubes at a time! in which case coving out a bog standard living room is gonna cost a bundle
toolstation.com are selling everbuild coving adhesive,it comes in a standard tube for use with cartridge gun. the thing that gets me is its only 92p a tube, wondering if anyone has ever used this product and can vouch for it, or is it a pile of cr@p...
i always operate on the policy of the less features the better, its easier for me to meaure up the scew holes, take off the brackets then i have broader area to skim rather than trowelling around everything.
thats pretty bad like, sofas could be agued as your resposibility to cover them but dont get me wrong im not advocating shoddy workmanship, the bottoms of the walls could do with a tidy up but as long as the skirting fits fine it shouldnt be a drama, i cant believe they left the rad brackets on...
its an chalky old paint they used to put in old houses, its flame retardent ( i think ) but skim dosnt stick to it at all it just blisters and falls off
anyone know the best method for getting rid of this horrible sh!te in old buildings, spent ages scraping it back the other day, and im not skimming straight over it, i'll only make that mistake once
ive got the marshalltown one, bloody great big horrible thing, its alright for full buckets but anything less than a half and its w@nk, might check out this ryobi one
im always thinking of getting a bigger van but i always remember what a fella told me when i was just starting out "it dosnt matter what size your van is you ALWAYS end up filling it with sh!t and want a bigger one". so for now i'll stick with me transit connect. i can get 15 6x3 boards in...
wickes plaster bonding agent, £11-12, 3kg tub, does the same job as thistle bond it but a lot cheaper, it makes any wall (any reasonably flat wall) seem like plasterboard. in my opinion anyway.
ive done a similar job mate, i took 2 days over it, 1st day scraped back artex, pva, then i spread a neat coat of bonding over the top of the lot ( just enough to cover the high points of the artex ) when that had gone off, i stuck a coat of wba on top, next day went back and skimmed it, hung...
is it really that bad? i have a feeling it would be sht cutting straight lines as youve got nothing to work against ie straight edge/ ruler
can you use it on 9.5 or just 1/2 inch + 15?
wondering if anyone could shed any light on this little gadget.
https://www.transtools.co.uk/store/extra/prodImages.php?productId=6850
has anyone used it before? does it cut the bead or just fix it in place? is it just for plasterboard or can it be fixed to s&c, lime, old skim etc etc?
