Got one small internal wall, gonna use 1:4 with no plasticiser or lime. Did it before and never had any issues. Just checking this is an alright way to do it?

That mix must be dead and horrible to spread. Get something like this, your mix will be lovely and creamy, great to spread and rule off. Are you sure 1:4 is suitable for the background?
