Hi all, long time lurker here finally posting for some advice, love this site fully of great advice, tips and banter. Been plastering for 8 years and the last 2 have involved running my own company mostly on domestic's
I have several B&B's on my books that I do regular work for but back in September a new owner of a B&B approached me for quoting a full bedroom re-skim they moved to the area bought the B&B and said they will have plenty of work to go my way. So I pop along give them a quote and sure enough I got the job and a couple of weeks later I'm there on site. I complete the job and he pays me (by cheque but no problem in the end as it went through fine)
Anyway months go by and on 23rd December he phones me up asking for a refund!
I said what do you mean a refund what's up?
He responds saying he's not happy with the work and would like a refund to get another plasterer in!
I explain that before we talk about money let me pop over see what the problem is as its been 2 months since I completed the work, and I can make good of what your not happy with, if your still not happy after that then fair enough we can look at a refund, he tells me he doesn't want me to come to the B&B again and only wants a refund, again I say let me come over have a look and we can go from there.
Anyway the conversation pretty much ended from there with no outcome.
So here we are the middle of February and he phones me again almost 2 months since the last phone call and 4 months since the work was undertaken asking for a refund, the same conversation goes on and he ends up saying I want a 50% refund or I will write a bad review on you and take this further.
Now before you all shoot me to pieces I can assure you my work is of a good high standard, and I have great reviews across Facebook and the likes.... as well as repeat customers. What I would like to know however is what do you lads recommend I do in this situation? It's not about the money I'm fighting against, it's more the principal of how this customer is going about it, also is there any disclaimers out there that can protect you in future if this was to come about again?
Any help or advice will be appreciated
Cheers in advance
