Advice on rendered wall

I agree but I'll always try to side with the tradesman. I know loads of plasterers that render as well but I wouldn't call them specialist. Specialist to me is someone who just does bagged renders and has machines.

Customer said he was a decent guy obviously trying his best to do a good job. It's very easy to sit behind a screen and slate the f**k out of people. At least give the guy a chance to rectify it. The picture in daylight doesn't look bad but I'm only looking at it on a mobile screen
I get your point, but pitching up and trying your best isn't good enough. You know if you're up to the job or not. I do skimming and the odd bit of rendering inside a fireplace or garden wall etc. I'm not going to have a go at rendering someone's home

Well said mate,
I'm a renderer been on on all the applicator courses over the years and worked with nothing but render for over 10 years worked hard to become a specialist,

Hi guys, really appreciate the comments so far. Obviously not keen to be unfair or unreasonable. We ended up changing the light and it did make a difference. (It’s not as obvious as it was) but at 4-630ish on a sunny afternoon this is what it looks like.

On a good note not many people are up at that time .

Doesn't look good

Have you put a straight edge across it and seen if it's even reasonably level? Really doesn't look great still

I haven’t, but I’ll check tonight. I’m not sure what the recourse is here. A few comments on here stick out. 1) the scaffolding he had was all over the place and quite far from the wall in sections but he was happy with it (he put it together) 2) he was originally laying rendaid and base coat with a trowel by then switched to painting on with a brush on advice from another ‘expert’. Here’s a photo of the base. You can see the middle section which is painted on. It was an awful wall in fairness - lots of different brick types.

Right.... I don't think he knew what he was doing tbh

Why’s he got Webber and ecorend? Don’t tell me he mix them together. He needs pulling on it, can’t practice on your house. Different brick types like yours when they’re all over the place, it needs the basecoat ruled off. Then and even topcoat that dries out evenly. Basic stuff

Can you even reach of that top level looks miles away . And looks a nice gaff so you want it looking right

Exposed for too long in this heat it’s normal for mono to shrink! No worries, it will settle (y)

My cement band shattered today. Came back when I rubbed it up and if anything goes again, the paint I have will fill it but what does a proper renderer do?

Nope. I put it on over scratch coat that I'd wet down - maybes 10mm.
you need to rub it or float it at the right time .Thats one of the main reason for it. f you have thin coat adhesive with fibers, go over it before painting.

I think I got it at the right time. Firm enough to work hard with the float then make it perfect with the sponge.... seems there's never a good time to do s&c - always too hot or raining or too cold and the day too short. I do very very little of it. That band or a bit of patching - maybe a little wall...and extension max.

yeah,no worries. just go with the thin coat very tight and youll be alright

Use Jub Revitacolor as a equalising paint, it is designed to stretch so great for those hairline cracks and crazing.
