amount of fixings per sheet of polystyrene??

I've just been to a job and a house a few doors down is having ewi and the sheets are all fitted but they have only drilled/plugged 2fixings per sheet!!?? We got told (in Germany) that 6 per sheet were a must but admittedly we just did 4corners and one in the middle. What's the norm please over here? Cheers lads :RpS_thumbup:
 
Thanks FrankNewman275 I thought as soon as I saw this job that 2 fixings per sheet was very suss??
 
Most manufacturers will recommend 5 fixings per m2. We sell both the Knauf Insulation 'Thermoshell system' and the Mapei 'Mapetherm system' and they both state 5 per m 2.

Have they just dry fixed?
 
I was suprised to see only 2 dübeln/pins whatever? Think they used adhesive too as enough of it slopped on the surface on some sheets! I just wondered if the fixings had changed much in order to warrant doing just 2 and not 5 ??

Ive always stuck and pinned my work.
Its how they say. Sure to be sure
 
We stuck and still used 5pins in der vaterland but that was in the 90's and was just curious how much the system has changed since arriving to this country? I've never done any over here so just asking you lads who know the script etc. Learn something everyday lol :-)

No no am not a kraut pal, true northerner! :RpS_laugh: But keep relating to my 8 years there as that's the only place I did machine plastering and similar render systems to what some of you lads talk about on here :RpS_thumbup:
 
No not at all, I was asked to leave a neighbours house after over celebrating when Alan Shearer scored from a corner winning 1-0 was doing the aeroplane and everything. No sense of humour the sausage suckers lol :RpS_laugh:
 
Depends on the spec.
a fully pinned spec will mean 5/6 per board depending on manufacturers pull off.

What if its a stick only spec? It happens.

I had a stick only spec that we fitted 1 pin per board to the middle as a back up. Sometimes a manufacture will have a stick only spec plus say 3 pins per board as per request of engineer/ architect.

Not always specified on the full tested default of 6 pins.

Majority out there now tho have the full pin pattern
 
Pares have a tested adhesive only system with no fixings, depending on what your sticking it too and the project location / height. The Parex rep should be able to clarify this for you if no specification is available on site.

ive fixed many a parex system but I always add a few mechanical mushroom fixings as well just to be safe, especially at height.
 
Most of the manufacturers at the forefront of eifs with a properly designed chemical adhesive can spec without pins.

The shizers with base rend with the added bit of polymer need pins on every application otherwise the boards just pull off

Thanks for that. As I say its been 13 year since I did any and was just curious how this system has evolved but from what I'm reading there are loads of different systems and specs etc so I've learned something new yet again :RpS_thumbup:
