155 in uk so far. Normal flu in uk kills around 70,000.

13,000 total coronavirus deaths in the entire globe so far. Guess flu would be millions

The mortality rate of normal flu is 0.1 % coronovirus is around 1.8%
A lot is known about 'normal flu' nothing is known about this as yet, i.e. The long term effects of it for instance If you get it does it leave long term scarring on your lungs 10 years down the line etc . The bottom line is its highly contagious and not much is known about it. If the goverment did nothing and knobs were in pubs and the like spreading it about it would kill a lot more than it's doing, if medical professionals are saying it x amount of times as deadly as normal flu with no agenda are we on here saying we know more about the subject than them....
I was of similar opinion to yours a few weeks ago, but I have since gone a full 360 on it since, the figures are frightening,I've elderly grandparents and a sick dad who if got it they wouldn't beat it, I'm frightened for them more than myself.
 
When your dad, mom. Granny, grandad, siblings dies It's got a strange sence about it.. That's if it's natural death without a pandemic like this. Thing is we can tell the truth on tpforum so let's monitor how this goes!! Is this just deaths that would of happened anyway due to what ever life style they led!!! My brother died at 47 years ago best plasterer I've ever seen... But lived the candle at both ends!! So let's see how this virus goes!! Or will they close the Internet?

Flu deaths generally move slower and the peaks are nowhere near covid levels. Its virulent nature that can cause huge spikes and the NHS capacity is probably driving all the advice on this.

1.8% of confirmed cases. they estimate millions have had it but brushed off as a cold. Real true numbers are probably more like 0.01%.

I’m not trying to downplay it, I’m just not believing all the bullshit on the internet.

Still seems very low figures compared to the population of this country!! But I'm not saying it won't get worse?? Thing is there's loads on here, who yet knows someone where has it!! If this was an Italian site we would be all manic!!! So let's post updates!!

I agree, I don't go for theories on this and that and social media rubbish, and doom merchants. The outset is though it's a highly contagious illness, your right most just get a cold or mild symptoms but some aren't so lucky. The way I see it, is why take a chance of making myself or my family poorly, I have to go to work but I dont have to sit in a pub for a month or two. I have a doctor in my family and I fed a lot of this to him and he pretty much converted me round, his biggest concern is the long term effects of it i.e. Could it be like an aspestosis in that it can sit dormant in your lungs for years were not enough down the line to know.

I agree, why take a chance. But this could apply to anything, and if we're going to play safe, why start with something that's statistically unlikely to kill you? Have we been shutting businesses down and singing songs washing our hands before? the normal flu kills hundreds of thousands yet we haven't done all this shite before.

The reason it's being done now is because of scaremongering by the media, social media, and idiots sharing fake news.

As long as there's a good chance of puting those you love around you at risk for a relatively short period of time, why take it, and as said we know a lot about normal flu with vaccines available and the like, we know nothing about this.
So Not sure I agree with you there, but opinions are like arseholes, everyone's got one and everyone's entitled to there's.

I fully agree mate, and I am when visiting parents. Offered to get their shopping etc (they aren't worried and carrying on as normal) but I tried just to air on the side of caution.

I still believe it's a hype job tho,

I've got three bog rolls and a pack of wipes left, I'm worried. So much so I'm booked in to have my anus waxed and bleached. This time next week I'll have an arsehole like a labrador puppy, no bog roll required.
