I am after one of the Marshalltown mesh tapers, think the code for the product is MT72.A mate on site has one and I found it a lot quicker so would like to buy one. My mate did say the is a better one he has used but he cant remember the make of it.. Can anyone help
thanks in advance

This is what I had thought so have no idea how my mate has one.lucky for me I have a friend who lives in the usa and will ask her to buy one and post it to me..many thanks

Hi Tony,

Yes I would like it if you would not mind posting it to me, If you let me know how much you want I can send you some money

Thanks

I've also got one of these and like Tony I don't use mine either, which should really tell you everything you need to know.
If you find them quicker then you're just not applying scrim efficiently IMHO.

Your probably correct Andy, I have not tried it yet and will have a go with it tomorrow on site. He seems to use it very well and I just carry on with my delphin knife to cut and a trowel to push on where needed. I prefer to cut internal corners with a knife as I feel its more precise and probably quicker also.

I do spend a fair bit on tools as I feel if it makes the job easier im happy to spend the money.
Maybe this time im better off just carrying on with my own way

I thought they were alright the only draw back was they always seem to have serrated blades which are no good for scrim

Ah well there's your problem, using a knife to cut is slow and clumsy. Get a good quality 4in scrapper and sharpen it up, they're perfect for both pressing the scrim to the wall both on normal joints and internals and you just pull the scrim back against it to cut in a split second.
That's it I've got no more, my only useful bit of knowledge given away:RpS_blushing:

It will put the mesh in the corners quite quickly but I found it a bit clumsy. I'll dig it out if you want it.

yeah I do use a 4 inch sharp scraper also.just find on some jobs the knife can be quicker. I think it all depends on the job as where im working at the moment the is some right little fiddley areas where I find the knife much quicker.

Hi Tony , Yes if you could dig it out as I did try my mates and I quite liked it,so if you wouldn't mind that would be great,,

Have you ordered before Malc? What's the import tax like?
we purchased a mt 24 inch trowel from canada, there was no import tax.
when i purchase porcelain on usa ebay, on items over $100, there is 18% vat. 8% import tax, and £10 payment to parcelforce for collecting the money
