Ignore steve he’s a painter.

Blue grit is horrible to apply. Horrible shite.

It’s best used when there is no suction like vinyl paint. It provides a ‘new surface’ along with a mechanical key, and plenty of work time.

It’s very gritty and can feel like you’re skimming artex.

Suction is your friend. Just keep it controlled with pva

It is indeed absolutely evil to apply, roller it and you end up looking like a smurf, paint it and you will take hours, but it does give a fantastic key on certain surfaces, I liked it over the artex.

What's PVA like on artex for instance?

Never had an issue pva n skim artex ceilings week in week out

If you're at all worried about it being asbestos, you can send off a couple of samples for around £50. Not the cheapest thing in the world, but good to know either way. I got some done at this place: https://www.bradley-enviro.co.uk/ Results come back in about 24hrs after they receive them.

Just take necessary precautions taking the samples.
