250m2 basement I'm pricing, will be a Soverign chemicals job..

The difference from others I've seen is the floor in a couple of rooms... it's lifted the floor in mounds, they are planning to have the floor level dropped by 6".

The question I need to ask is what is the best process for dealing with it? Will more than likely be a membrane system with a soak away and pump to deal with the walls..

They are asking for a solution for the floors also but I've told them I'm not digging out etc, should I request it to be dug out and poured with waterproof concrete then membrane and screed over or can the membrane go straight over the earth?

Any other advice or options welcomed..

I've seen a basement that's been done in mono before now how habitable the rooms were I don't know but interesting thought.

I will be getting a rep out as soon as I get some commitment so this is just for pricing purposes ATM.

Bang on Malc, basement tanking can come back and bite your arse, especially with sump systems. Don't do the membrane system myself, not confident about them fixings/ membrane joints standing the test of time. In a basement that size you'd need to be getting an architect or whatever to give a spec, and you need to stick to it. Any problems in 10 yrs time and it's your arse that gets shafted, new floors, decoration , inconvenience claims etc - a minefield .
As for @Damp - I think you mean @D4mp, he was proved to be an idiot/troll years ago using an anemometer to measure dampness :lol:
 
We just finished a basement hardcore topped with sand then membrane floor, steel and concrete with floating celotex floor on top tanked all the walls with 3 coats of k A slurry
 
I used a tanking membrane and slurry for a lift shaft in a block of flats ....the water just pissed through the concrete memdrane and slurry....everyday there was a new lake.
Stay clear from it.
 
Just get the salesman/rep to tell you the spec but remember them guys aint doing the job so really if they f**k up its not there arse. Always remember that.

Me I would get them to dig out the floor.
  1. Blind it with sand
  2. Visqueen
  3. Insulation
  4. Concrete
  5. Then crack on with your SBR backing coat and then tanking.
Make sure they ventilate the space also as tanking can be horrendous for condensation if its not vented. 250 m2 hey that's about £20,000 :bananahappy:
