Best bonding agent for reskim..

1was latexing some floors the other week which came with an acrylic primer, it seals the floor and dries in an hour but, and this is the but stays tacky to receive the latex,

I started with a 50/50 pva water as usual 2 coats then spread when tacky, but these ceilings are just sucking the lift out of it so started using a stronger mix but its just not helping what so ever..

out of the 6 ceilings I've done 4 have flash set and 2 have hung for 4 fckin hours!
Each have had the same treatment..

notice it's only the ceilings btw Walls have been fine..
close the windows in the room your workin in its prob a breeze hittinhg the ceiling

Lol it's not the windows..

funny how everyone jumps on a question an starts presuming they know it all..

I bow down to the almighty knobheads.

personally I couldn't give a crap what half of you think..

I asked a question half of you wouldn't in fear of being reprimanded grow up men!

spanky trust your own judgement, go through all said pva's , wba and solutions and find wat works for you, everybody as there own preference and mine is wba mixed with 4.1 pva but leave it longer before skimming . Good luck finding one that works for you .

p.s be confident in your ability !

tbh it's not really an issue just getting pissed off with having to put smaller gauges on and chasing it..all walls and ceilings were still up lol

Is there lots of insulation resting on the ceiling above? + hot day can make it go quick.

I never bother with Pva these days why do it 3 times when you could do it once with blue grit or similar.

This is exactly what I was asking for, I have used blue grit once but it's the waiting 24 hours that puts me off using it, but would have used it if it would have stopped the flash sets..

Never really thought about the insulation holding the heat in could well have been that..

No way of remedying that

after you have taped up and caulked out the joints in the plasterboard, you give it a coat of artex sealer to give you an even suction for the texture coat.

If it really high suck spanky ,,, don't think blue grit is your friend? Try using sbr if the background is dry as a nuns **** .
I'm gonna give that artex sealer a try.... I never knew what it was for...:RpS_unsure:thank feck. arti. asked.:RpS_lol:

Before i went on holiday about four weeks ago i got a tidy little number for a sunday shift. Living room, dinning room and kitchen ceilings to be skimmed over artex. Turned up and sheeted everything off, gave ceilings coat of weak pva and went for breakfast. Came back and when i touched the ceiling to see if pva was dry the paint came away on my finger. Felt all over ceiling and paint would just stick to my hand/finger. Never saw anything like it before. Customer wouldn't overboard so home i went, tail between leg, out of pocket for diesel, wages and a breakfast i never even enjoyed.

Moral of the story....................dont **** with artex!!
