Genuinely amazes me to hear people talking about straight forward big ceilings as something to be feared.
Clearly those talking about getting help in on 30m2 ceilings have never had to make their money on site at 3quid a square.
30 mtrs x £3 ÷ 2 plasterers 45quid each
Biggest ceiling skimmed on your own no speedskim just trowel
.
If its possible to get a full bedroom of 40m2+ on in 1 with wet angles, then personally a much bigger straightforward ceiling with no wet angles to worry about in my opinion is no more difficult.
Our qs is the only person im bothered about convincing when I stick my invoice in.

How is responding to a question of "how big a ceiling can you do"?. with an a answer self praise you chucklehead if you think im going to lie and say 15m2's just to keep the can't do's happy its not going to happen.

Self praise is no recommendation as they say
I bet u half of the lads on this site could of manage a 30 40m2 ceiling that age but uv just bragged about. It just a saying so don't get your knickers in a twist

An 80m ceiling .....soon as it is flattened is just walked across using stilts .
I dont understand why this is hard for some spreads to under stand.
Fair play scottie ....for knowing how to plan your hits right which most dont.

I think if a lot of us had to adapt to lay more gear on we would, a lot of it is preperation etc/ and getting a plan of action that works.

In the domestic world you can make very decent wedge skimming one 30m2 ceiling on your in a day (half a day).

I think a lot of what we can all do depends on how much we want at the end of the week.. If some are happier with less then they won't have as much drive to work that little bit harder etc/

Exactly my point other week those that say ur full of s**t u cnt do this and that them lads have never been or are price plasterers and some people say s**t like or bet that's as rough as if you put that much on some lads are quicker than other end of we are quick and we leave a good finish just because there cant do it dsnt mean we cant,I've stopped mentioning meters on here Scottie as every1 just jumps on you saying ur full of s**t told a guy other week he can glady come down and watch us do it If he dsnt believe us and If we failed I wud pay his wage or if we did wat we say he wud have to pay our wage..ant heard owt back since..2 of us skimmed over 200m2 last week in day with no labourer..piece of piss

I know 2 lads skimming 3 bed houses in a day without any snagging.

They admit they couldnt do this everyday......but there pissing 200m a day.

3 × 33m hits a day is far from impossible....its just fuucking boring !!
(Until I paid !!)

I also know a lad who charges x amount on domestics ...in a "money area".
And gets it.....the cuunts loaded.
Doing half the work.

3 gages!! Fck that..never do 3 always 2 hits

We charge s**t loads domestics..its how the cookie crumbles id take domestics all day long but wudnt keep us going we need oceans of plastering, some lads do it some dont its how ur brought up in my opinion wen u 1st start I've always been a price plasterer so lads arse wud go if there were price plasterers..it is wat it is

If I turned up on site on my own in the morning and found someone had taken all my gear apart from a 18" xtralite mt a hawk and buckets/whisk/scoop.
And left me a 80m2 plasterboarded ceiling at normal room height and a relatively straightforward shape ie square/rectangle.
That on everything I hold dear in this world swear that I would be putting that ceiling on in one on my own.
It wouldn't have a joint in it and I wouldn't be subbing it out to bigger boys.
To recap me myself and I would be all Id need.
Also Id like to say that I've a second year apprentice who could manage a 30-40m2 ceiling on his own without too much drama.

yup.... but then you were taught to use the bear minimum.... the youngersters these days are taught to use all this new stuff which is great but you need to master the fundamentals first

I can do 100m2 on my jack in 2 hours start to finish doing press ups between trowels and run a half marathon before the final polish and only charge a tuppance ha'penny and a boiled egg :inocente:

You must be northerner then I take it.
I never known a southerner able to do

A press up.!

With a Marshalltown about the same.
And that approach to a 80m2 ceiling Without a speedskim would be).
1 and a bit bags stiffish caulk out all tapered edge joints then gauge a 3 bag bucket whichll first coat 50+m2 .
knock another 3 up slightly wetter flatten with a Marshalltown the first 50m2 now scratch the other 30m2 on flatten with a marshalltown .
whats left out of the 2nd bucket will almost lay the first 50m2 in knock 1 bag up flatten with a marshalltown what was just 2nd coated now lay the rest in which will be hanging fairly wash out then trowel the lot with a Marshalltown.
This is obviously for a ceiling thats a sensible height and shape with straightforward access if any of these things get more difficult, either A the number of mtrs going on will come down or B the number of trowels needed will go up.

Ive owned a speedskim for 2 1/2 years.
Ive been a greedy c**t for the last 20.
Bollox

My brothers skimmed a 90m ceiling on his own in a £2mill house.....the only thing that done his head in was half the site standing watching him.
He never broke a sweat.
This fella had his own render firm in oz.
He dont brag about it cause he f**k**g hates plastering.
A lot of lads on here are bitter about who can do what !!

Im only on level 3.....geralt keeps F*****g birds which distracts me and makes me go and watch a load of porn.

Fair play to everybody who does 100+ plus day in day out. I'd probably break after a week and would look for a position at tesco.
I'd love to do plastering non stop would be p1ss easy having to own a couple of buckets trowels and such instead of carrying a van load of tools at all time, but you have to get there to get the trowel and hawk out, you can't plaster onto thin air.
I guess, if you got hundreds of meters to do every day throughout the year you obviously on site, for domestic you have to quote, and do the legwork to get your foot through the door.
