Busy or not?

Due to odd current times with our suicidal Labour government it’s really hard to predict what’s happening and if we’re comfortable spending when a good flow of work isn’t guaranteed.
What’s the general consensus on how much work is lined up?
Had subbies ringing me randomly to see if I have any work, had colleges asking if I’d be able to take on dropped apprentices. Not had a great deal of calls myself.
What’s occurrin?!

Lack of confidence in Starmer and the lady.

People have dough and want to spend.

This c**ts f**k**g s**t up big time.
They've got a massive majority and they'll do nothing of any note or good with it.
It'll be a one term government and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets ousted before that, I'd guess a year to 18 months.
The waters ahead are dangerous with Trump on one side the EU one the other, I don't think he's savvy enough to steer the ship and nobody in his cabinet is either.
To paraphrase Gil Scott-Heron.
The Revolution will be televised, the revolution will be live.

Agree (partly)

Starmer is ONLY listening to Schwab.

He has said so .

Personally, I wouldn't look into it too much. There is not that much going on.
I hear people daily complaining about this and that and it's dependant on who does what etc etc

Basically it's the WEF Vs ......

That simple.

And whether something falls in line with them and their ideas or not .

It seems EVERYTHING boils down to this.

All routes come back to it too.

You appear to know more on the latter than me but I think we broadly agree that "change" is an illusion.

Moves are being made to stop change in the form of Reform. I wonder if they’ll ever be allowed to get in power or is that just another illusion of choice. A carrot dangling to keep us distracted.
Another 4 years of this and our country won’t be recognisable!

I honestly don't think it is a lack of confidence in this government, I truly believe more people have realised that they're setting out to destroy this once great nation.

And still every one is asleep …
Name your favourite govern ment ‘EVER ‘

Wakey wakey

I was listening to a local reporter on the radio the other week talking to the public about their finances and spending in relation to the economy.
An old age pensioner summed it up for the lower paid public, as he said by the time I've paid for my gas, electricity and food there's not a lot of money left to spend.
Sums it up, I'd say move your sights to the wealthy areas for business.

There was an influx of work after covid with people sitting at home planning improvements.
Now more people are back in the office etc this has quietened down.
House extensions have got too expensive for most people. materials, labour costs and complex designs by architects making them horrendously expensive!
Re skimming isn't as trendy as it once was.
Add in there's so much rough work around now, it can look worse after it's been skimmed than before, so many decorators do their own prep.
Governments have a lot to answer for, but people still decide where to spend their excess cash( if they have any) many deciding on a shiny SUV on finance rather than a shiny wall.

I've got a few months in the diary but complex jobs and nightmare customers. Not working for under £300 a day.

The problem in this country is there is no longer an incentive to work hard and setup a business because the reward is high taxation.

and now another nail in the coffin for those working hard unused pension savings being subject to IHT.

Right now I have no motivation to start new businesses as I'll be pushed into 50% tax bracket. Theres no point earning over 50K unless you have a very profitable business as you will get taxed to death.

So it's tools down for me and many others I've spoken to until the tax environment changes.

True I rarely get skimming jobs these days and decorators do take on alot of the prep. 10 years ago I'd get alot of work for decorators.

lack of confidence in the economy,
cost of everything going up
household gas/electric bills,
economy grinding down to an almighty shudder,
2025 will see a lot more companies/pubs/restaurants/shops going down,
scary times ahead rossi,

People still spending though. Went out last night and pubs were packed.

When I started work in 1981 I never once heard the term 'reskim' or worked on such a job with my old man. It just didn't appear to be a thing. Decorators aren't stealing the prep. that is how things were always done in the past. Let's be honest, the vast majority of reskims can actually be avoided by putting in some effort with filling and sanding.

I have been through umpteen recessions. When work got tight we would travel into London. You can always earn money there. When the recession deepens and the targets drop, I would go to the Netherlands the work is a lot easier and money good but the tax rate is high. There is a huge black market there . I had a family to worry about in those days .Now I could not care less.

I think tv programmes like DIY sos etc, and builders wanting to make a few quid for doing nothing made re skimming popular.

Bit extreme flying out just for a meal! but if your earning enough go for it ;)

Mate you can fly to Poland have a lovely weekend eat out all the time and do lots of family excursions for the price of one day out in London. Only in term time though.

All the problems and troubles this country and British have to endure begins and ends with the useless governments we've allowed to rule here for so long. None worst than the current villains running the shop into the ground !

No common sense or being qualified in the real world by most of them who are owned by bankers and thier globalist masters who parachute in the leaders they groom and choose especially the PM's no genuine leader here since the Thatcher gang !

They don't care that we can see how bad they are so they will keep pushing till we snap which they probably want and have more devious plans for us when we do ?

Unless a new gang ( reform or UKIP) have a turn with good intentions which they will stick to and resist temptation to be corrupted then I see much violence ahead if the current regime continues.

The black market in uk will grow bigger than ever with cash in hand for cheaper prices being king ! Which is why the mob is attacking cash non stop !

Trouble is the majority of people aren't interested in cash.Their not going out to spend it, everything's bought on line and delivered to their door, including take aways and beer.
The only cash changing hands is for stolen stuff and drugs.

And maybe a few meals out abroad;)
