Rendering an extension (concrete block).As it's an 1860's property the front has to have 3 false doorways in order to blend in.The client has applied celotex to the wall and covered with EML,leaving the 'doorways',bare block.This is to save thickness on the render around them.

I can not think of any render that would be guaranteed to work on this background.Ideas ?

Why didnt he put building paper behind the EML?

i would have used rib lath but providing the lath has been well fixed i would render it, sand and cement would be cheapest

probably wouldn't have known any different,and it was already done when i looked at it.

I've done it using sand & cement with SBR added, been on about 4-5 years now and seems solid enough :RpS_thumbup:
