i love new inventions but this ,to me,is just a gimmic fiddely old rubbish

Me too, I have 3 different ones coming out soonish, each one is something I want as a plasterer to make my life just that bit easier.

Lets face it our job is the ONE job all other trades admit is hard.

The first one is going to have a mixed reaction, the second one people will like a lot and the 3rd one people will say "well thank f*ck for that thats what we needed ages ago".................well hopefully anyway :)

Unless the board is tapered I just can't see why you'd want to slow yourself down by caulking the scrim out whether in advance or as you go ??? ???

and the beads?! just put a bit more on your trowel and stop being a f ucking fanny. honestly andy, i dont know how we put up with them. thanks again for the giggly stick

theres a few reasons why firstly it doesnt slow you down because plaster sets wether you have coated or notpossibly a little more work but it flattens the boards much more so makes it easier to produce a nice flat finish,it helps if any scrim is showing thru as you coat you get rid it stops blebbing if any thickness is needed esp around beads it stops tiger striping as your not putting on to thick and here for me is the big one which really makes a diff is coating corners first and IT IS NOW THAT THE CORNER TROWEL MUST BE USED this spleys mud into board no sill lines now you can skim and imo it will be easier and a better finish if done this way just my oppinion like

oh and it must be right coz im always right

I just put a stack of seed on my bird table and they all ignoring it the ungratefull bastages

The greedy little barstewards in my garden clear the table of peanuts within minutes but ignore the really expensive mixed seed I thought I was treating them to >:(

Perhaps their trying to drag the jobs out Steve ;) Have you used the Giggly yet? I hope you've kept to the agreement. I reckon it could be quite effective inside as well, probably look quite good along side the sort of work that Kirk has done in his place. ::)

yeah it would look nice with all his home made cornice. shame. we've got a 4 bed detatched to do in a few months. i'm gonna persuade him to let me loose with it. i'll put the pics up when its done. its possibly the best tool i've ever had the pleasure of owning, and its all thanks to you xx

i admit i dont see to many doing it but the best fella ive ever worked with always did it and thats good enuff for me i cant do it any other way i just find it easier therefore better give it a try

But it is slowing you down Rocksolid as doing anything that doesn't need doing has got to be slowing you down. My whole method of work is based around doing things in the quickest most efficient way whilst still produceing top quality work and if it made for a better, easier way of doing things I'd do it trust me.

you havent got to build a bead out to far. its a couple of milimetres, and you do it in two coats! do you scrim your screwholes aswell?

how many times do you see work over boards that curls out at the beads i see it all the time its because it aint been pre filled rarely gets pulled so no one ever thinks out about it
