Cracked asbestos artex ceiling

Evening all,

We've got a dodgy bedroom ceiling that we've been struggling to make a decision about for a while.

It's badly cracked in multiple places and has clear sagging in others. We had a very similar issue in our other bedroom but were able to rip that one down and replace with plasterboard - this one however has asbestos artex.

In an ideal world we'd like to overboard but don't know if we'll be able to find anyone to agree to it, nor if we'll be able to afford it.

Any advice on what our best course of action is, particularly if we don't have the budget to pay for someone to rip it down and replace?

We had it tested a few months ago. Victorian house with likely 50s/60s artex on top of lath and plaster ceiling.

Yeah we've got the boards ready but our original plasterer didn't want anything to do with the job because of the asbestos. It's good to hear that others think this is a perfectly doable job!

It’s do’able but not safe. When the joists are located r even when fixing the boards fibres can be floating round in the air or when cleaning up. If you’re happy to put your family at risk that’s up to you. Personally I’m with your plasterer on this one.
