i think that labourers are a thing of the past. they are not needed for skimming, dot and dab, on rendering and floating we just do the labouring between us. floor screeds there is always a plasterer who does not like screeding but will mix up.

Ive not used a labourer for two years , never been happier and not lost or left any tools on a job either in that period .

I always use a labourer, usually make £150 a week off them on day work .i never carry in
Tools ,plaster ,bucket etc, normally I scrim,plaster ,pva etc whilst the lab brings in stuff and mixes, its very difficult to get a decent one though slow and stupid is the norm, but


With a two and one gang I can get an extra £300 a week for spread and lab so its worth my while,I would f been retired A long time back without one..
 
Well I've never had a CSCS card but if I did?? I'd be a gold card holder due to my qualifications in the trade. I see a point to filter out the "non skilled" lads jumping on the bandwagon etc but it will never get policed properly and a waste of time! Just an excuse for the inland rev to take more money on a regular basis!! For you site lads fair enough but I'm domestics only most of the time in fact there is a scheme for those tho are CSCS card holders (who don't have qualifications) to "upgrade" free of charge !! I'l route the info out chaps if its any help to anybody??

i sort of agree but the extra money is not worth listening to crap they come out with , and picking them up from home and dropin them back home , and then after a while they go awol when its a slighty hard day in front of them and then subbing em wages when they cant afford to eat ( latest smart phone on contract ) , to much hassle Jon imo , but maybe i never found i half desent one :RpS_confused:

Very hard to get decent people ,sacked two in the last eight months otherwise I'd be inside doing a stretch, lying to me,going missing etc,
 
when i was a labourer i had to fill the works volvo with petrol when they stop for fuel , they just handed me a £10 out of the window , how times have changed :RpS_scared: not just the price of petrol either :RpS_laugh:
 
yes that was back in the days before the gov put the price of diesel right up , cause they found out a way to tax the working man , to pay for our poorly lazy fat friends that need help wiping there fat bums .

ive got a new nela but ive so little rendering on at the mo, i dont think im ever going to wear it in the same way i did my old trowels to see if its any good for skimming

I,ve got gold card. never once needed it tho... but its worth having, only costs about 30 quid a year... got in in plastering and other in tiling... clever as fuk me..lol and if they did a gold card in bumming, i,d have that aswell...x

glad I did all my qualifications in the early eighties - when there were only city & guilds through a bound apprenticeship those were the days :RpS_thumbsup:

no week courses - proper training 3-4 years combining college and site work :RpS_thumbsup: I'm I showing my age now- :RpS_scared:

From what I see No !!! A big f'ing No !!! Lads these days haven't a clue and I cringe at some of the stuff they "teach" my lad at college!!!??? Luckily they have sent me a questionnaire about my thoughts and pity the poor fool who has to read my thoughts to their superiors !!??

I know right..

£17.50 for test ok passed test, given my award letter. 'now that lasts for 2 years, but if you want you can open box number 2 (aka bend over) pay another £30 and get a card that lasts for 5 years!! (Feel like you've just been done dry without even maccies first!!)

every year.. every two years.. who gives a fuk, its 30 quid, not 3 grand..lol.. and marshy couldnt teach at college, as he would be after bumming all young ens..lol..
