Normaly email a quote , unless I trust/have done work for a few times. For silly wee patch ups etc I just write the basic job description , my name and number on a sheet from my note pad and give it to them, saying "here you go, just so we know where we are "........Not had a problem ,so far, but get your point, I'm old school though.

I'm fine with text. Text, email, doesn't matter so long as it's in writing.

I'm old enough to remember pushing quotes through people's doors nearly every evening.

Thing is with me that people hire me to do all of it usually so them being disappointed about what's included in my quote pretty much doesn't exist.

In fact I only see this as ripping customers off with your guesstimates

In fact this would lose you more work than gain

In fact just produce a estimate
Then ride the customer for extras

A quote is set in stone... you should be experienced enough to anticipate everything....

Some jobs need to be an estimate as there can be some unknowns and also customer moving goal posts...
