Drag marks

Not sure what you call em, so drag marks it is!
Like you've. Ran your fingertips across finish, barely feel en, but can see them.
Is this cross troweling too early/ late/wet/dry etc?

I guess your on about when you are trowelling up?? touch more water or wet your trowel blade just a little mind don't go mad
 
Tiger stripes? If it's a new trowel your using perhaps a very light spray of water on the wall or a little flick of water, prevent the trowel tearing at the surface.

I know mate, I'm scum, I'm a c**t, I'm that bit of dog s**t that the kitchen door spreads across the floor at 6 am, I'm that bit of sweaty mainge on a hyenas ball sack, I'm multi trade. I know I'll never be in the plasterers club, but if you ever need a hand putting a kitchen or bathroom in, your boilers pissing out water in the night, your electrics keep tripping or even if your van needs a bit if welding for the mot, gives a call and Ill come and help. And I also know how to knock up a good mix to go over artex! :D

I've got used to the finished wall looking shite once fully dried as a few on here said to me beginning of the year once painted it don't matter I was in a right flap over it looking crap although I hadn't changed how I worked as for streaks/stripes I haven't had for ages and only got when going on it too early leave a bit of fat on them carry on trowelling up then go back to that part once fat has stiffened up a bit

Cheers Marshy. Been using very little water, hopefully just enough. The walls have been coming out good, I'm just getting pickier. It's all those little things that you do without thinking and I go on to a forum :)

Been trying that Flynny. Been working hard to keep my trowel flatter through the stages and get consistent. Its one of them where you'd show me quickly where I'm going wrong, but difficult to demonstrate remotely :D

I cant sir last day plastering is on christmas eve.....just bought house so after boxing day its time to strip it damp proof lower hallway ceiling and skim it.
Back to skim a new build 4 bed morris home on the 3rd.

Il probably be dead end of febuary !!
I hope @kitchy still comes to my funeral.
While trying not too poisen myself in between.

I've got a spray bottle Cornelius, and do use a bit of water. That's one thing I have learnt... not to use too much, and the walls are a more consistent and even colour as they dry, so that's working. Have been trying out my new trowel too, so could be. Thank you :)

Could be Nat. I've layed on first coat, given it a very light flatten. Cleaned bucket and knocked up second mix. Layed on 2nd...1st coat seems pretty firm, waited till its picked up, light cross trowel...it's pretty flat then. Misted wall with spray bottle and super flex. Looking good, but its at that point when I think I might be getting back on it a bit quick. What ya reckon? Cheers mate :)

True Pagey. I'm going to be painting it, so at least I can slag myself off :D Also got 100 kilo of easi fill coming new year...will all be good. Cheers mate :)

Well at least have an evening off mate...you owe yourself that. I've been working 12 hour days, not long got home and stuff to do between Xmas and new year too...s**t isn't it! Where you based Algae?

I live with 4 girls mate theres no such thing as an evening off !!!

I'd love to say dodgy bag of finish, but prob trowel pressure Clutch. Btw, regarding the multi, I often find bits in it, almost like little black metallic flecks...any idea? Cheers mate.
 
TBH mate I have never noticed that, but I will look out for that. In my experience ripples and bumps generally come from the finish being to thick or not leaving the previous background to dry enough, so pure weight pulls it and it becomes a f**k*r to trowel up.

Generally you will know if you got a dodgy bag of gear, it will set like f**k. 'Wickes' in my experience is the worst culprit for this, my local branch sells way out of date finish at times, got to watch them.
 
I blame rising damp............Its like a pain in the back can be caused by your foot...........its about think outside the box for solutions

Usually buy multi from Magnet Clutch. Seems like there's a fast turnaround as I grabbed a few bags yesterday from the top of a new pallet and when I popped in this morn for some cls, noticed it was nearly all gone. Cheers mate

I usually sort mines out this time of year by hiring an angle grinder from jewsons.
