Been a one man band over 20 years 44 and I've lost the love for it. Do I take my bussnes to a nother level employ a plastrer and a young lad or do I carry on the way I am For the next 9 years then my penshion out . Not much enough to see me through the winter months might carry on small jobs then through summer

Done it before taking young apprentice on waste of time. I always loose the love for it over winter. get good 7 summer Cleer 80 grand morgatge on 2 houses pack in winter il be 49 50 then. That my goal more than anything it fuking kills me this Time of year think I've got SAD and skint lol

Get a light box and have a proper break , at least a month, don't do a list of jobs to do.

I've really enjoyed starting working with someone, was feeling really depressed with only my thoughts and the radio but have a laugh now and share the stress ...works still hard but better than it was
I have thought of that geting a fit semi retired bloke it just finding one that flexeble to your needs I might put a ad beginning of the year thinking about it. thanks m8

I'm winding down a bit next year too. Gone from having 22 lads at peak in late 90's to me n labourer and mates in when needed now. Got the rental n other stuff so seriously thinking of knocking on the head one of the big contacts that I do 2 or 3 big jobs a year for since started but don't need the stress and courses n hoops I have to jump through regularly for the big contracts. Luckily Got enough regulars n contacts built up over the years to pick n choose a bit more. 8 years left on mortgages then blow the kids inheritance disgracefully ! Only joking ish

I was in the same posistion as you a year ago.30 ODD YEARS flogging myself.Mortgage free a few years ago,but just got to that stage last year where i'd had enough.Could not get reliable,trustworhty labour,tried for years.Its almost impposible.So I started subbing to a bloke full time.He's over the moon with my work,but its took me a whole year to slow down,stop bashing out big sets.I now dont have to worry about labour,chasing money,dealing with customer gripes,worrying whos goin g to turn in and whos not.I just pick off the odd weekender for myself if the money is right.Iwill be 52 in Jan.He is the one who has all the worries I had,and he cant get good labour.(except yours truly
