... You are a joke!

Despite many complaints about your packaging, and you apparently showing concern, it would appear that you don't actually give a shiny shite about your customers .... Nothing had changed!

Having suffered a humiliating breakage on the stairs of an old folks home the other day, I feel it's time you were made aware of the mess that the bog roll that you call a bag is causing at every merchants in this green & pleasant land.

For The Attention Of British Gypsum ...

I know a guy from Travis Perkins who had your rep in 2 years ago to see the mess for himself!

For The Attention Of British Gypsum ...

But still nothing is done - Why not?

Bearing in mind this hasn't even left the pallet & may have to be handled another 3 or 4 times yet.

Trying to actually open the bags without them falling apart is a greater skill than actually pushing it up the wall.

You need to watch your step BG, you are not the only option anymore & your refusal to supply your products in a useable paper bag shows your arrogance & it's pi55ing everbody off.

And yet they still sell and will continue to sell hundreds of thousands of bags per week so why go to the bother of complaining lol

haha almost every bag i open the entire outer layer comes off when i rip the top open or we have to feed them in sideways where they have split right down the side, its ok most of the time as were knocking up in big buckets and big guages but if you only need a smaller mix its a ballache hand feeding every bit for fear of picking up the bag and it bursting everywhere.
oh they joys of earning a couple of quid haha

What are you like with skimpy panties?

Your question has been passed up the correct channels (without a paddel) and your concerns will be addressed ..............love BG xxxxxx

however we are probably way to busy making **** loads of cash so dont hold ya breath...................love BGxxxxxxx

this is a good idea. i think we should all take pics of ripped bags and just tag british gypsum in them. it probably wont make them change them but itll be funny

basically we are considerable richer than you

Who would have thought just 10 years ago that BG plasterboards would be almost extinct!

Despite BG having the sole rights to mine gypsum in this country, Knauf & Lafarge manage to ship the stuff in from Spain & still make 'em cheaper than BG in Leicester.

These company's are slowly taking BG apart, just look at Lafarge bonding compound (good strong bag too) compared to that smelly grey muck BG churn out!

The times are a changing! :RpS_biggrin:

So why don't any of these other companies make a serious challenge on the plaster front? Until there's a decent alternative to BG Multi etc. they'll carry on using shity bags no matter what anyone says.

Well, I do know they are looking at the bag situation, it comes up in every conversation I have with BG and I do talk to them frequently. They trouble with big firms is that it takes a long time to implement a change.... its not just a case of a few quick presses of button and its fixed...

I have experienced the same as well.. I dropped a bag over my shoulder just last week and it split in half... not ideal I know...lol But some of those bags in the picture look like tehy have impact damage...

Danny

PS BG will be notified of this thread again so we will wait for their response :-)

Fair enough the bags are **** but if you twist them as your taking them off each other they are sound but once you open them they can be ****** its recycled paper gotta be.

ffs i have heard many a person say "I got split bags because they are cheaper" so they obviously please some people lol

B and q pallets seem to have more glue on them than any out the builders merchants. Anyone else noticed that?

Yep. it's recycled newspaper - only the other day I read on one of them that Lord Lucan has gone missing :-0

I mentioned a while ago they should make the bags like the new plastci cement bags - waterproof as well so no lumpy bits when they get damp (and iirc cheaper to produce and ecologically friendlier) though I don't know if they burn as well when you sh*t in them and chuck 'em on a fire :rolleyes)

Local MKM sells BG plaster but Lafarge dry-wall and Siniat (another name for Lafarge) boards. Have to keep an eye out for split BG bags on the pallet - never bother with anyone else's product.

Thing is Danny, they were very swift to act on getting Unifinish wiped off the face of the earth!

The bag problem has been getting steadily worse for years now & reached rock bottom a couple of years back when they gave the printing a bit of a makeover.

And it's not just the quality, the bags aren't sealed properly. You can't even grab half a dozen bags from Wickes on a Sunday morning without coming out looking like a Homepride man. Every time you put them down it spews out the corners.
And why stick them together on the pallet if they are just going to rip when you lift them off?

As has been mentioned, the damage is minimal if you twist the off, but you try telling that to the monkeys at the merchants who rip 'em off & chuck them in your van ..... usually managing burst a couple for good measure.

the plus side is i get **** loads of split bags a couple of quid cheaper...........................:RpS_thumbup:.......................:RpS_blushing:......................soz lads just trying to be positive.........................:RpS_crying:

Aye, Bang and Screw used to put the split ones in a plastic rubble sack and sell em for about a quid. Always used to find the odd one that had split :rolleyes)

My local B&q is a mess with split Multi bags everyday, but as stated you have to twist them as their stuck with a lttle bit of glue, it you lift them then they tear, apart from that the actual Multi itself is lovely to use of late so well done BG.

I fail to see how a big company cant implement changes quickly. Im sure if they had a drop in revenue form people shifting to a different supplier they would sort the changes pretty quick. Also BG never had this problem before they introduced the plastic liner inside the bags so they already have the solution buy using an archived bag design. Its not like they have to re-invent the wheel to solve this problem

do we think there is any connection between BG putting the inner plaggy liner in their bags and the quality going downhill. surely plaster has a moister content and needs to breath and you cant do it wrapped in clingfilm.

I defo think its since they switched to the plastic liner.............that and the waffer thin bags

Hi everyone, thanks as always for the feedback and sorry for the frustration with the slow moving process.

In response to the issues raised, we’ve set up a dedicated team to review our packaging and they are currently exploring manufacturing and production processes. Once this is complete, they will then be going to site to speak to customers directly and get further feedback.

As the team continues with the review, we’ll share further updates with you, but in the meantime, please let us know your thoughts and experiences with us via the following email address: thistleplaster@saint-gobain.com
